Default Chiptuning

I wonder if any of you have chiptuned their LS430, either to make it faster and/or more economic.

I tried the search on CL but got no results. In Holland we call it "chiptuning", maybe in the US it's known as something else?

If there is something for a Supra or something it probably could be done. I know we did "open ECU" for my Evo when I had it and got 584hp out of the "stock" ECU. I haven't looked into it enough but I know there was a guy that had a "stand alone" system but he had a Supra swap and was totally modded.

Oh, in Holland there are lots of chiptuning companies who can chip the LS430. But result is not something to brag about: from 282pk (almost the same as HP) to 298pk and 417nm to 437nm. For the price of almost 600 euro (739 dollar). But the MPG is unknown or stays the same...

Based on those data, you'd say it's not worth it.

If they can tune the ECU to 298pk, that's pretty good. Would the car be stock other than the tune?

When you said chip tune, at first I thought you were talking about those chips that add power. I'm sure you can tune the car for more power but I don't know how it affects your gas mileage.

The fuel table and a/f ratio's would need to be trimmed to get better mileage along with injector cycles, etc., etc... for 8hp, almost $800 not worth it in my opinion.

I would also like to know if there is any way to retune the computer...is a standalone a feasible solution for these cars?
