I have a 2002 LS430 with 171k and it's running very strong. (I am looking for some replacement chrome wheels - the chrome is failing and they are beginning to leak.)

I love this thread. My 1998 LS was hit and totaled (because of mileage) at 337k miles. It was flawless and I had planned to take it to 500k and know 100% it would have done 400k without an issue.
I have the chance to purchase a very well Lexus maintained '04 430 Ultra Luxury with 290k on the clock for $10k.
Opinions?

That price seems a bit high for that many miles... You can get closer to 120k miles for around $12k... at the worst...That's way too high a price for that many miles... I'd back off on that one...
2001 Base model with 128k on it... bought 3 years ago with 109k on it...
2004 ML version with 48K on it... just bought last month... so no high miles on this one

Agreed, I can spend a bit more for a non-UL with a lot less miles, though I haven't seen many '04's and up for less than $13k. In my opinion though miles mean much less on a Lexus than other cars - I have seen some low mileage LS's neglected that need serious work. I know that this had Mobil 1 oil changes religiously + won't need a timing belt for at least 70k. I love paying less for a perfectly maintained, highway miles car. I don't think there is an '04+ UL for under $15k anywhere. But, I also don't know if anyone else feels as I do, which would be important come resale time.

I am with GUM well said
Miles are a imaginary tool... give me a 200k car with highway miles and a car guru owner over a 25k mile female owned city driven car ALL DAY LONG...
i have seen hundreds of low mile cars driven and treated like garbage and i have seen equally as many 100k plus cars that looked like they were off a showroom floor...
I GO TO THE AUCTIONS a lot and I can tell u I LOVE HIGH MILE cars... BECAUSE MOST people dont and therefore i get great deals on awesome cars
GUM is 100% correct .. its impossible to find any UL 2004 and NEWER for under $15k around .. unless the dealer or owner has no clue its the baddest optioned LEXUS on the planet then its game over u get a STEAL
