Default rearview mirror

I was wondering what is the little cushion at the top of the rearview mirror in 2001 lexus ls 430??? it flips down but i have no idea what it is or what its for

It's a sun visor for when the sun is shining thru that little area. The big visors don't get that area.
I use it a lot .....

Exactly! Other models like my wife's RX 350 have the larger "dotted" area on the windshield.

It's one of the coolest tiny features that I show my friends as a reason why lexus cars are the best haha

Truer words could not be said...
If you flip down the driver-side and passenger-side shades too, then the sun is entirely blocked off from the front of the car allowing you to look at your rear-view mirror without getting any additional glare from the sun. You can actually drive *into* the sun and still use your rear-view mirror, in other words.

It's just one another one of those small touches that makes this car so special.
