Had my tires balanced again. But as soon as I hit 60 mph on the way home, the steering wheel started vibrating slightly. I'm at a loss - if the wheels are balanced, there should be no vibration right? Other times there will be no vibration at all. This only occurs at 55-60 mph, not at lower speeds so I'm guessing it has to be tires or wheels. I have Pirelli 225 55R17 tires on there - wonder if they could be an issue?

Possibly a bent rim? If you rotate the rears to the front and still get the vibration, it might eliminate the tire/rim possiblity, but more than likely it's the tires.

LOL, I just got back from the mechanic with this same issue on my 01 UL with chrome wheels. I had also had the tires re-balanced, which failed to fix the issue. I also had the vibration problem around 55mph, when braking and when not braking. I had the front brakes replaced, and so far the problem seems to be fixed. The mechanic also said something about the chrome coming off the inside of the wheels, but that it wasn't that bad.
i have this problem with my aftermarket wheels chrome.i put the fronts in the rear and it is fine.i must have a unbalanceable wheel.i would do the same on yours and see if it is better.
Chrome was ok. Weights were still on. I gave up on the Pirelli's and Discount Tire took them from me and I paid the difference for the Michelin Primacy MXV4. So far, it's like night and day difference.
