Default Console around navigation screen

I have a 2006 LS430 and the paint/color on the console housing around the navigation is showing some wear and tear. Is there a quick fix for this or should I take it to a paint shop? I want to make sure the color matches. Is this piece easy to take out or would I have to disassemble the whole center console?

I assume you're speaking about the plastic bezel around the nav screen that gets lots of scrapes from fingernails, rings, etc. I believe some folks have had that piece replaced.

Yes, that is exactly the piece I'm talking about. I took a pic from the internet to show what I'm talking about. The part between the nav screen and the fans is all scratched and some paint gone. Any idea how hard that is to take out and replace? Would that involve taking everything out below it just to get to that piece? Thanks for the replies.

I was wondering about this too (mine has the same design as yours).

I remember calling the dealer and getting told the whole console needed replacement at a price of $6,000. You can get them for $750-$1000 on ebay, but that's still a waste.

What I'd really like is some touch-up paint for the gray metallic plastic. Anyone know what type/color?

Yeap, it's the one unit as a whole... This bezel is not detachable.
Only chance is to look thru breakers yards, but replacing bezel only is a hard job.

Bezel is a separate part (PN 55405B) and would run you ~$350 (at least thru Lexus Parts East. Didn't check Sewell and their CL discount).

And yes, removal of all panels below is required to get this bezel removed, though it is not difficult to do.

I have also seen an OEM optional wood dash piece that covers that whole bezel. Id love to know how to order that and just install that on top.

The used car lots have guys that come in once a week and do interior touch-up repairs on seats and plastic parts on used car trade ins and cars from the auctions - they use airbrush to paint interior parts so they look like new again. You be surprised that maybe 75% of used cars have had touchup work performed. IN most cases completely undetectable. Call a few Toyota and or Lexus used car lots and get name and number of their interior repair guy - usually a cheap 50-100 dollar repair. Meet them out at a lot - they do the work in about 30-45 min. They are expert at matching and blending the colors.

I bought a used bezel just for this very reason. Still haven't gotten around to painting & swapping it out.

Good Info. Usually these guys work specifically for dealers, but if you bring your car to one of the dealers they are scheduled for, they'll do yours together for a similar price.
