Default Problems with the LS quality????!!

I just hit 45k miles with my LS and once again I have to thank my CPO warranty but why so early?? First I had a bad universal joint in the upper steering shaft (dont remember the exact diagnosis) and they changed a whole bunch of stuff in my steering rack. My car was at the dealer for about a week!!! (dont know why that job took so long). My driver seat started to look a bit rippled ever since that job( I'm assuming it was the tech putting his knees on it for hours!!) That was probably a 1000 dollar job atleast.(at the dear price for sure). Let me just state that I babied this car since 15k miles and when I got it (2years ago) it was in brand new condition inside and out)..........This steering wheel issue started at around 30k miles. Now at 45k miles my rear headlight leveling sensor went and while I was there they told me that my right rear shock was leaking oil from the seal!!! Daaym!! what to hell???!!! CPO warranty covered everything ofcourse but why did all of this happen to me??? The service advisor told me that for the sensor job they usually charge 508.25$ and 420.59$ for the rear shock replacement. He also told me that they do not do an alignment with that job except the Toe anjustment(that seemed odd a little and he wouldnt want to include the rear alignment for me).........................My LS is supposed to be rock solid at this mileage from the reputation that its built!!!!!!! Should I blame the rough NYC roads for this or the fact that its 6 years old or what??? I dont know............

There's a good start as city driving takes a toll on any car. Also, it wouldn't be the first time that a dealer service department took advantage of a generous warranty program to perform work that may not be totally necessary.

All of the work definitely needed to be done. I seen the leaking shock after he told me about it. The steering rack kept making clicking noises. The headlights would just point down in safe mode when the sensor went out

There are more and more electronics on the LS430, just like the Mercedes put a lot of electronics in the S series in the early 90s which caused a lot of problems. Hopefully Japanese did a good job and not too many owners have to pay $1,000 a pot for the sensors on the bumpers. Putting some very expensive (parking) sensors on the bumpers is a stupid idea.

I have an 04 and I also had a rear suspension issue (not a UL) and a headlight system issue. Mine has 61k on it.

Read about problems people having with their mercs and beamers at this age/mileage, and you'll see that your 'problems' is not really 'problems'

Warranty claims are the dealers bread and butter. They bill the manufacturer, you are billed way too much, who cares? Until it comes time to buy a new car and these costs are added...

My ls430 is rock solid at 160 000 miles. But I havent taken it to lexus to see what they want to gouge me for...

I'm surprised that your LS would have so many issues in such a short period of time. Maybe it's just bad luck.

My car was actually from southern jersey where it was driven mostly highway miles and mine had 15k miles when I got it. I dont know if the 30k that i have put on it made all of this damage from the NYC driving
