Default Found this DIY on Cabin / AC Filter replacement

Just came across this for those looking to change their cabin filter,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiEGxp4LamA

I changed mine but took me a moment to figure out the tabs that you need to lift up so you can pull the filter housing out. D'oh!

Cheers,
James

Thanks for the link James. This is gonna be very useful for some LS owners. How come i don't remember pushing the filter up into the housing on my 04? Could i be doing it wrong all this time?

^^ The vehicle used in the video is an '01, could there have been changes made for your year? Although at the start of the video, the filter didn't really look that high up there, so maybe it doesn't make a big difference as it will likely drop a bit anyhow.

Thanks for finding the video and posting it, I'll be checking my mom's car tomorrow!

Thats what kills me, dealers charge a hundred an hour to do this. I can see the labor rate for skilled labor, t-belts etc, but this is so easy a cave man could do it.

The 2004-2006 LS has knee airbags so it's not quite that easy...

Gee, I seem to remember that this filter came in a new plastic housing with no need to just replace the filter element (04 LS).

Are any of the replacement filters preferrable to others? I see one from Delco and another by TYC fpr sale and was thinking of going with the TYC. How different is the procedure for 04+ cars?

I would never think of using anything other than an OEM from Lexus. Just my opinion.

Can you provide a set of instructions for the 05 since it doesn't have the dual glove boxes? I think from what I've read you have to actually take off the glove box and let it hang?

Nice. So no removing of the actual glove box? The same procedure in our FX35 took me almost 2 hours!
