Default DIY Trunk Lifters / Trunk Shocks / Trunk Springs

Purchased the lifters from Advance auto parts for $44 +tax for a pair using their $20 off 50 coupon code: A123
Normal Cost $32.49

It does not pop up on its own until you give it a little push.

Removing the retainer clips (blurry video, but you can get an idea): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIXUfoqIZSI

Pics:
Its a good idea to get a stick or a shower rod to hold up the trunk lid. As soon as one shock is removed the lid will fall

Next Lubricate the ball joint with some grease

Then just pop on the new ones. No need to remove retainer clip. They should slide right on the ball joint.

Good Luck

F250, Your post #16 was super helpful with the pictures. Used a sprinkler flathead with my father in law holding the hood and just added some extra grease before applying the new ones. For the rear, after a few manual attempts, the shocks seem to have broken in, and now the liftgate opens on its own instead of stopping half way. And yes, I did purchase the correct ones
