UL question
I was checking out some Ls430 UL editions and have some questions. I was wondering does the UL have different options within it as well? I saw some ULs for sale that have eat/cooled fronts air sus but no cooled rear seats. Some ive seen have air sus, but no rear massage chairs or anything.. i am so confused on the differences. Are there more then one kind of ULs? Oh they're 01-03 btw
all04-06 UL's have front and rear heat and cooled seats as well as rear seat massagers. the only single option i know about with the UL's was the PCS (pre collision system) which is a square plastic L emblem in the grill instead of the normal looking LS L grill.
If i did my research right, I believe a car with stock air suspension (look at right behind the shifter there should be 2 extra buttons for the air and shock) is the tell all sign that it is an Ultra Luxury model. If it doesn't have it, then it isn't an Ultra Luxury model but rather a "CUSTOM" luxury model.
The UL also has an extra button that allows the driver to return the rear seats to the upright position and/or lowers the rear headrests. The symbol on the button is a seat and is located in the lower row of buttons, not on the top row with the suspension height and sport buttons.
Another easy way to spot the UL is to look for the A/C vents above the rear doors. Only the UL has an independent rear A/C.

The online listers will mark cars as UL when they really aren't because they know people filter the cars by that option. All UL's have air suspension and rear seat upgrade in the US. There was no way to order the car with air suspension but without rear seat upgrade, or vice versa.

The best ways to identify an 04-06 UL from pics in ads:
- Headlamp washer covers in pics of front bumper (indicates UL or CL)
- Rear stereo controls in rear armrest
- Air suspension and rear seat control switches on center stack in front of shifter.
- Smaller rear trunk that doesn't extend forward all the way to a rear seat pass through.
- Rear door window shade hardware.
The UL is very nice. Even if you have to replace the air suspension w/ stock coils, that would run you maybe $2.5K. Heck, a set of decent new tires will run $1200, so in that sense, $2.5k isn't bad. You have to put up with the same risk on the GX (air) and LX (hydraulic), or 4runner limited (air).

I've been riding on stock wheels because of winter and just enjoying the smooth suspension ride and quietness that comes with the UL (don't forget it comes with double pane windows too)
It's also the only way to get the additional air conditioning/filtering/deodorizing unit, which is pretty awesome in its own right even without rear passengers. I can certainly understand peoples' concerns with the extra gadgets but they are pretty darned cool.
