First mod - emblemless grille
I have a black chrome grille with the OEM chrome emblem. The only reason I didn't buy the Chrome one was because I felt it would take away from the emblem on the front. When I come up on a car it looks like OEM, but at an angle it gives off a chrome look. Pretty nice if you ask me.
Don't buy it! I tried and it was a catastrophe! Much toooo heavy, stainless steel and bold on. A shame for Lexus quality. Pay attention to picture details and you can see it. As bold on there is no way to remove the original parts and because of design differences it is absolutely not matching.
Picked up my custom grill today at lunchtime. Thanks to Waijai for the local source tip!
Got it home and looked at it close - decided not to wait - took about 30 minutes to install, and that was taking my time, cleaning and detailing as I went and having my 13 yo stepson help (his first car mod project). Perfect fit, easy mod. It looks great.
In response to LS owners in DFW area - haven't met up with anyone. I know from traveling around that in other parts of the country LS430s are not that common. In Colleyville /Southlake area where I live the LS430s are a dime a dozen. There is a huge Lexus dealer about 4 miles from the house, and not many other dealers nearby, so everyone buys a Lexus. I literally see 3-4 other LS 430s about every 5 minutes on the roads around my house. Yesterday morning pulling out of my subdivision I saw another black cherry LS driving into the neighborhood and after making the turn there was a beautiful sage green LS at the first stop sign. And saw a black one at next stop sign. So we saw two rare color LS and one common color LS in about 90 seconds after leaving my house. Its absolutely Lexus Central around here.
In stark contrast, we just came back from a 2000 mile trip and saw only 2 other LS430. We drove the LS out to the grand canyon and back. Driving all through Texas, New Mexico and Arizona for a week - we only saw two other LS430s in a week of driving 2000 miles and they were both in Sedona. LS430 are rare as hen's teeth in most of the US.
I would not mind attending a local DFW meet to see others LS430s and mods performed.

Yea I got the chrome version - it would look good with black chrome version also especially since lower grill is dark. But I am old school so I went with traditional chrome. Thanks it was the best $100 I ever spent on a car.
btw - if anyone else is thinking of doing this mod, it helps if you can pick up the part local because then you can examine several grilles and pick the one with the least defects. There can be significant quality variation between large chromed parts like replacement grills. If you have to order long distance, take the time to call and personally ask them to pick out a good solid well chromed piece with no defects or scratches.

I think its a big improvement, mostly because I hate the massive chrome grill
and I also dont like the huge L either.
I know I wont be able to find an emblemless grill in Toronto so I will look into
what it would cost to get the chrome grill painted the body color of the car.
