Default Option to Customize LS430 Functions

We have the option to customize a fair number of the functions in the LS430. For instance, it drives my wife crazy when I unlock the doors, because I have to press the "unlock" on the key twice, and she's already tried to open the door, which means I have to do it again. So you can get the option changed to open all doors with 1 push of the unlock, instead of 2 (we don't have a car-jacking issue here in Canada).

Then I got all the doors to lock as soon as I engaged the car in Drive or Reverse (instead of at a certain speed) and open as soon as I put the car in Park. (I don't have an issue with kids in the back seat)

There are lots of options that you can customize (you can even re-program the re-wipe after the washer has been used) - I have a Technical Service Bulletin which lists them - or I'm sure you can ask your dealer for his - and get them to re-program the ones you want changed.

Yes you can change these fuctions, however, you need a scan tool to do so. I changed my door unlock function so I only press unlock once intead of twice. I used a scan tool, but then again I work at a dealership so it was easy for me.

Our dealership charges .50hr labor to change LPS items, so if you want other things changed, be sure to do them all at once.

Some Lexus dealers will change LPS settings for free. It may help if you take it to the dealership that originally sold your vehicle, mention that fact and ask nicely.

I use an independent garage who made my changes for free - it took them maybe 2 minutes. I think most if not all garages have the tool - it seems to be the same tool regardless of the make of the car.
