Dead LS430? Car won't start / key won't work / completely unresponsive?
Foremost, I did a bunch of searches, but nothing seemed to be like ours .
We have a 2006 LS430 that is used by my father as a daily driver. This morning he tried to get the car to start with no avail. He turned the ignition switch over (we have smart key) and it wouldn't turn. The keys won't unlock the car either, but fortunately my father leaves the car unlocked in the garage (problem will be getting car out of garage if needed) so he was able to get into the driver seat. The car is completely unresponsive and seems to be dead or locked electronically speaking.
The car seems to be on some sort of electric lock? We tried both of our keys which seem to have battery (red lights on key flash when pushed) and the car won't respond to the keys to unlock or anything of that sort.
We live in South Florida so its NOT the cold. Its daily driven (30-40 miles) I've seen tons of posts on if we left it for a few weeks but that is not the case. The battery is 2 months old and we've not had any other problems. As soon as he gets back from work I will have him see if the wheel is locked--though I don't think that will cause the car to become unresponsive to the keys...
ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated as the car is not under warranty...
well you should check to see if the car battery is still good by turning on one of the dome lights or reading lights somewhere in the car, or by even turning on the headlights manually. if these lights all work fine then turn them off and look under the right leg (a little below the knee area) for a some buttons and a vol ****. make sure the smart key button is pushed in. this may have been depressed.
when you try to turn the key does the steering column come out and try to go to the preset location??? does it move at all?
ive had something similar happen on my ls. it would unlock at first but when i went to turn on the car nothing will happen. no power anywhere and the car would talk about calling lexuslink. the problem is my positive power terminal needs to be replaced. i would move it a little and would get power again. battery was bought in mid year 2009
Ok I think (hope) it was the battery. We jumped it last night and it worked this morning...NO lights were left on...the only thing was a cell phone charger that has a light on it...do you think that is the culprit?
Not much draw on a non connected charger light but enough over time. Maybe a door was ajar. Hard to tell after the fact. I would say it might be a weak battery, but the battery should be fine given its only 2 months old but sometimes (very rare) you could have got a very old new battery. If it goes out again get the battery swapped under warranty if possible.
We have come home at night and my girlfriend has not closed the passenger door all the way. This will not allow the auto headlights to turn off. Mine died this weekend due to that.
