The bushing in the replacement bracket is pressed in up-side-down. The nipple should be in the downward position. The top half of the OEM bushing is "harder" to account for the downward load of the vehicle such that the bushing provides the same dampening characteristic in both up and down direction.
But then again, if the bushing is an aftermarket, it may very well be just a solid piece of rubber. In that case, the nipple is there just so that it looks like the OEM.
Please have a look at Post #29 on the link below...

Holy crap, I have them upside down!?! So I have the driver and passenger sides mixed up?
I oriented them this way because the outside bolt was larger and I had to flip them around, the only other thing I can think of is that i mixed up the driver side and passenger side.
These are the OEM IS bushings (48075-30030), same part as post 181, ordered directly from mylparts.com.

Reason: Used a proper PC instead of crappy cell phone

48076-30030 LH Driver's side
48075-30030 RH Passenger side
The last picture on post 181 shows the bags with TWO different part numbers, FYI.
Please be cautious when ordering these bushings. There are many vendors now on eBay from China selling these as OEM. Make sure you buy from a trusted OEM supplier.
Can anyone recommend eBay seller? Asking because I am thinking they may have another 10% here soon, and I rather buy from a known vendor instead of some stranger.

I have pics of lower control arm bushings that mechanic said may need replacing. It is expensive. First two are from Nov 2017 and second two are from Jun 2018. A few things.
Ride is a little bumpy and wobbly when braking as seen can be symptoms of bushing issues. Ride does not feel as smooth as it should.
I am new to DIY on cars. So far I only have done a headlight cleaning and want to paint a big paint scrape on door that happened in a parking lot.
Wondering what tools are needed for this repair and how hard or long it will take.
As stated in the above post; will IS OEM parts work in LS? the ebay links are for that and GS.
any other feedback would be appreciated
EDIT: Also, do I need to replace the front upper bushing with the hinge or this hockey puck looking part.
Search this thread, has everything you need. If you search the part numbers, you'll see the newer bushings fit NUMEROUS Lexus vehicles, the IS included. You'll need a 1/2 ratchet, breaker bar, and several sockets... probably 17mm, plus a jack and stands. Should be able to knock it out in an hour, even with the most basic of skill sets. GL>
Just ordered them from the eBay link... fingers crossed!
I bought mine from eBay as well. I found a seller who sells a lot of parts so I feel good that I bought an genuine part + discounts during Christmas/end of year, really can not beat the price (~$80 for the set).

I've actually asked, and the long story short. Say you see a seemingly legit eBay seller, power seller, tons of positive feedback nearly 100%. They also have a professional website outside of eBay (not a cheesy one that you pay $29 for and throw up in 25 min.).
They will have Lexus OE for $80, and the same part, different color, $190. I've asked why?
The explanation to me was these are 100% legit OE Toyota parts. Why one is $80, and the other is $190, is the $190 came from a USA distributor, the $80 did not. This mimics the gray market that existed on cars and cameras in the 1980s. A camera shop would sell two identical new in box never opened factory sealed cameras, and ask you which you want. The gray good, for significantly less, with no USA warranty but honored by our store (the stores still exist today), or the USA warranty, where it's warranted by Nikon Canon Minolta (lol) Pentax Leica and where you can take it anywhere to be fixed. Nothing is underhanded, totally transparent. Same with these auto parts, they are not knock offs.
What would not be legit is say watches for sale online where the ser# was scratched off. They are still often legit products, but now we're into a new level of gray market that should be avoided...
