So I replaced my bushings today. Drivers side was shot so I replaced both. After a bit of research I ended up ordering new OEM Lexus bushings for the IS since they come pressed in the brackets already and are rather cheap. Paid around 110 for the pair. The brackets are aluminum instead of steel bit I figured they would work fine since the FIGS and RR racing brackets are aluminum as well and work fine. Only thing you have to do is remove the dished oval washer thing that the LS430 has. The IS bushings are a bit wider on the metal sleeve part and have a dished end to slide into the arm. Passenger side had been replaced at some point and I think they hit it pretty hard with the gun so I had to go at it with the breaker bar. Driver side bolts all came off easy with my cordless Makita impact.

 

Nice DIY write up, upon looking at the bushing and the aluminum brackets, the bushing itself seems bigger than the bracket, I am surprised how the OEM units came like that!!! How is the ride quality. for $110 pair is really a bargain, you may want to do an alignment.

 

yeah the IS bushings are actually wider than the bracket. the bushing is centered in the bracket. this part number is the same for the is250, is350, gs300 and gs430 and maybe a few other cars. The RC bushings are supposedly a stiffer rubber and may be an upgrade to the other cars. ISF has stiffer bushings as well I believe. The new bushings definitely helped but I still have a very loose feeling front end. The wobbling drivers side wheel and feeling it steer and toe out on its own is gone though. I need to pull one and really try to compare the stiffness of these bushings and construction to the original bushings. I kind of forgot to do that because the passenger side gave me fits trying to remove so once I got it out I just threw in the new bushings since i was pretty tired at that point.

 

I will be buying those to try on my LS430. I'm not in a big hurry, though. The driver side does squeak when steered hard left and go over the dip at the bottom of my driveway, but not hateful yet. I'm putting the car up for winter anyway, so I'll probably do it next spring.

 

Found out my supplier has Superpro bushings for the isf but OOS currently. 4-6 weeks wait. I might just go with oem.

 

Does anyone wants to buy my 1 week old aftermarket bushings? It's already came with bracket so no need to push it out/in. These bushing makes the car feel sporty but I want soft, comfy feel that's why I went back to OEM, there are nothing wrong with these bushing, PM me if interest.

 

hey there. these are the ebay ones with the brackets installed right? I have a quick question, are these just rubber? or do they appear to be fluid filled like the OEM ones? Are you able to tell?

 

mykvr6, it's the Ebay unit and they are rubber, even the OEM bushings also rubber not fluid filled at all, the OEM rubber are softer the aftermarket units are stiffer. These units seem really well made and it's exact the same as OEM unit, if you like sporty ride feel...these are perfect, and if your LS didn't come with 18" rims then these bushing will blend well with the higher profile tires, mine are 18" rims/tires so it definitely stiffen up the ride. I am selling these for a good price if anyone interested, it's about a week on the vehicle (less than 100 miles).

Nope, the old oem cracked units I took out...it isn't fluid filled!!! it's rubber.

 

If yours didn't have fluid in them it's because the fluid had already leaked out. One of my bushings was dry, the other one was still quite fluid filled. I found that out the hard way when I started to drill some holes into the rubber part in my attempt to remove the bushing from the housing manually. I still have the stain on my T-shirt if you need proof...

 

My drivers side one was cracked and dry, passenger side one was still in one piece, I may cut it open and throw some pics up if I get to it later.

 

Yes, the OEM LCA bushings are definitely fluid filled. My fluid leaked out a few years ago and are still in the car. The ride has not been affected and there are no noises, unusual tire wear or steering wheel shake. Other than occasionally making a very tight turn may make a clunk sound which I have lived with.

 

Finally had time to install poly bushings for the front LCA.

 

Replacing these with the figs ones will deffinetly help your ride. When those lca bushing start to go it can cause your toe to be out of wack and cause premature wear to the inner edge of your tires, lexuses are prone to this apparently I will be getting a set of the 90a hardness ones and installing them before I drive my ls in the spring.
