Default Back! The Eight Year Itch

In Dec 2007 I had gracefully bowed out of this forum in hopes to come back in a very short time (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...ll-merged.html).

It may not be as soon as I would have wanted but almost 3 years later I'm glad to say I'm back my friends. And what I have got this time may only differ arithmetically from my previous model by 30 - but what world of difference . . .

As is traditional here, pictures first and more later:

PS. Still haven't taken delivery. It's on it's way from San Jose to Austin

Looks great. Did you fly up to inspect / purchase the car? Can you share how much it was to ship the car?

Incidentally, I have a very close friend living in the *same zipcode*. He did a full inspection, test drive even did a bit of the haggling. The final price came to $26,900. I was able to bargain the shipping to be included in this total.

The shipping on the avg for this distance (CA to TX) is about $700. In theory you could make a one-way flight and drive the car back in less than half the cost. I didn't have the 4-days needed for that operation.

Congrats on your purchase and welcome back! Hopefully you didn't pay much more than what was displayed as "reserve not met" price in the link you provided, given that it has 79K miles. Looks clean in the pictures. Hope you get to enjoy your deliver soon.

Yes the reserve froze at around $24K. But the auction was pulled down early when we made the deal outside of ebay. I would project that the auction may have gone till $25.5K max. KBB shows $28.5. I will be paying $26.9 (shipping inclusive) so I don't think I have much reason for remorse.

Excelent looking Mercury Metallic. The interior looks new. You picked the right color. Get some cash ready for the timing belt at 90k

thanks all. any recommendations on the extended warranty? considering this thing has more gadgets than a bond movie i'm afraid that there is a higher probability of an electronic malfunction than mechanical. how has the experience been from various warranty outfits on the coverage of these electrical parts? all inputs must appreciated.

vpanin i see you are in the same boat (er, car). but your obscenely low mileage indicates that you needn't worry about the timing belt for ages.

Looks like a very clean LS

If you bought it CPO through the dealer, it should be covered for another 3 yrs/100k.
I didn't read the description, but check if it comes with 2 master remote, and at least a valet key. If it come with a skinny wallet key, that 's a bonus
Don't forget to check the spare tire!

Looks like the windshield was replaced from those ugly double sided tape on the rain sensor
