The owner's manuals says when the smart key is within about 1m of the car, the puddle lamps will light up upon unlocking the door with either the remote or unlocking the driver's door by grabbing the door handle. They light up when unlocking w/ the remote, but not when grabbing the door handle. Is there something wrong or is everyone else's like this?

 

My puddle lights come on when I'm very close to the door and before I touch the handle. The lights do seem to have a bit of a delay before coming on. Try it at night and just walk past the door as if going to the trunk and see if they don't come on.

 

Mine come on before I reach the door handle.

 

Mine come on when I'm ~3' away from the car---walking towards it.

 

Yes, I noticed after turning off the lights in the garage that mine come on when I walk to within maybe a few feet of the car.

 

mine also light up when i am walking to the car (range of about 3 feet). no buttons to push, it knows when i'm close. SmartKey...
