Baffling delima/Question

I could have sworn when I shut off my car and open the door at night the door slits turn on...
After installing my Door LEDs I notice that my Slits only come on when the button on the roof labeled (door) is selected. So what I am saying is the slits now only come on when my dome light is on. Did I program it to do this by mistake when I took off my door panel?
The only thing I did was program the window motors back again because when I disconnected the window switches the windows wouldn't roll down..So I held it for 5 seconds and they went back to normal...how does everybodys door slits activate?

ok so its normal i guess...hmm i just could have thought they turn on with out the doom light on and you open your door.. errrr this stinks ....defeats the purpose of my door lights I just installed
Are you talking about the illuminated door scuff plates that light up Lexus? If so, I had the same problem. It doesn't come on unless you put your headlights to "auto"...I think. Yeah pretty sure.
The scuff plates only turn on when your domes are on basically. I tapped my VIP puddle lights into the scuff plate plug and they only turn on when the doors are open. When the domes go off, the same goes for the scuff plates.
you should have connected the wires to your footwell lights
I was thinking about your solution a few months ago and the more I thought about it and observed the behavior of the footwell LEDs, the more I liked that as the preferred behavior for the doorcup LEDs - so I rewired them. I tapped the footwell LEDs, and ran the wire through the fender and door, into the door panel up to the door cups. I did this on both passenger and driver sides.
Although the "mismatch" in behavior didn't really bother me (you have to lean forward to see the driver's side LED anyway), what I really liked was the dimming behavior when you shift from P to D. In P the LEDs are at 100% brightness, when you shift to any other position they dim about 50%. It's a lot more work to wire them this way but IMO well worth it - the dimming effect it provides is very classy. Thanks sinister2c!
I'll see if I can take some night shots to give all those asking an idea of what it looks like in the dark.
