Default IPod Integration

I just became aware of an alternative to Vais Tech and was wondering if anyone has any experience with it. Its called USA Spec and is supposed to do everything the other one does. Here's a link.

http://usaspec.com/product.php?Produ...eShowProduct=1

I have a guy who will do both cars for $700 no tx and he has done quite a few of them. Apparently this unit came out earlier this year so was wondering if you've heard of it before I go ahead and have it done.

Thanks,

Tee,

Thanks. I have one of those also but with this USA Spec and of course the Vais Tech, you can manipulate the controls of the IPod thru the navigation screen in the car and it will charge the unit at the same time. So that's what I want to spend $350 per car to do. What am I crazy??
Anyway, still looking to see if any other members have tried this unit and if not then I'll be the guinea pig.

LOL!! Very funny!!!

I use something similar to this

Put the music in random and then I hide it inside the compartment right above heat/cool controls

Did you get the USA Spec installed? If so, how do you like it? I don't have nav but want the ipod control and the cable out of the way.

If you want to run an ipod I strongly suggest ordering one of the integration devices and either have it installed - or do it yourself - installation is easy and takes maybe 30-40 minutes. Ipod played thru the line out usb style plug to an integrated unit produce excellent sound quality, and ipod stays charged permanently, and the radio displays the music selected. Converters that use the ipod speaker output plug as an interface produce a dirty signal with a lot more amp distortion - I'd avoid that route. You can unload the CD player and forget about it. My tiny 4th gen 8 gig ipod nano (hidden in the glove box) holds apprx 60 full length CDs.

Thanks. I am going to order one of the integration devices. I printed out the directions for removing the radio. Doesn't look too difficult. Was curious which integration device works better or is easier to use? The Vaistech or the USA Spec?

I have the Vaistech and it's virtually invisible. Have a 160 GB iPod which is dedicated to the glove box. The only time it comes out is when I want to add more music. I get to see the name of the album and the name of the song as each play. When you have that much music stored on the iPod it's kind of nice to see exactly what is playing. Wouldn't have it any other way, and by the way, all the audio controls in the car work.

I went with the USA SPEC unit. It was 120 from Amazon and another 30 from Crutchfield for the wiring adapter. I purchased the storage box and used a dremel to make a hole to run the cable through. Install went well.
