Firstly my steering controls including the horn work intermitently
secondly, the volume after a minute automatically reduces to say level 15.
Thirdly, I hear a buzzing sound from my rear speakers I dont know if these things are all related. Please help this ls seems to be jumping from one problem to another.
Well your issues sounds a little more complex than what I experienced. The other day while driving, I could not use the volume control on my steering wheel or the head unit. I kept driving and about 3 or 4 minutes later the volume decreased to almost nothing. I then had control of the volume again. The last button I pressed was the "mute / programable volume control" button on the steering wheel, and sure enough that is the level the volume dropped to.
I think my system was just "lagging" and took a second to catch up.
During this lag I did have control of the nav, phone button on steering column, just nothing to do with volume.
What you described in your response is exactly how my problem started say a few months ago I thought the system was acting up and may be a one off situation but now it has progressed to be a lot worse. The sound system seems to function at a low volume level. But it I kick it higher than say level 30 in a few minutes or seconds it automatically sets it very low. I wonder if the system is intelligent enough to know that there may be a problem some where in the circuit and then takes the action to prevent major damage. thats just what i m thinking.
It happend once about two weeks ago and I have not had any other issues since then. I wasn't playing it extremly loud when it started acting funny. I just chalked it up to the fact that it's a computer, an on occasion they need to catch up with themselves. : )
If it is just the volume turning down that you are experiencing, it could likely be the amp over heating. They generally have circuts build in to them to prevent damage. Although I believe usually they just turn completely off, not down.
