Default 2005 2006 Ultra

Hey guys,

I Currently have a 2004 745LI and I am considering getting a 2005 or 2006 LS!

I just want to be sure about this before I pull the trigger. Is the only way to get air ride suspension to get an Ultra?

I am having a hard time finding one!

So Does anyone have pics of there car with Eibach lowering springs, because that is most likely what I will end up doing.

Thanks,
Jesse

Yes, as I understand it, the ultra is the only model with the air suspension on it.
There were less and less ultras made as the model progressed from 2001 to 2006 so that is probably the reason why you are having difficulty finding one.
You might consider the '04 model as there seems to be more of them around and they certainly are reliable as you probably know. I recently test drove an '04 ultra certified with only 33K miles and they were asking $29K. The car was pretty clean but after driving the sport model the air suspension wasn't for me plus I never sit in the back seat to enjoy its myriad of comforts and convenience.

So your saying that the sport handled better than the UL? If so I would Prefer the sport!

So how can I tell that it is a sport, Is it by the wheels?

I believe the "Sport" suspension had a small sport emblem in the back. The three suspensions, standard, sport, and air, with air being standard on UL, so if you don't want air, don't get the UL.

As for the air suspension, I've read on this forum before that it was also a "standalone" option at some point for the Custom level too, but I've never seen one.

The LS430's standard suspension is very "mushy" like a Cadillac, but some people like that Cadillac feel... the over 65 crowd.

The UL's air suspension is smoother, but the sport definitely handle better.

Not so much by the wheels, since most 05'/06' LS430 comes with the 18s.

The sport got a tiny badge on the front fenders.

I knew the little emblem was somewhere, I thought it was in the back.

Yeah, the 18" don't tell anything. They were literally a "dime a dozen" option because it was only $200 that most people opted for it seemed in 2005 and 2006.

Just curious to why you want to switch? Are you having issues with the BMW?

Also, for the UL, there is a dash switch sport setting for the suspension.

the wheels, not the suspension. The suspension was I believe a $1500 or 2000 option and came with the 18" upgrage.

They are rare but they are out there.

The badge is very small, but you can see it if you look for it. It is a silver color badge with black letters saying "Sport".

Here is one:

The car is Really nice however 7 series are so dang soft it is rediculous! And they just have issues.

I want to just drive my car and change the oil every 5k u know. I dont want all these crazy warning lights coming on all the time scarin the crap out of me.

Also the Transmisions on the 7 are pretty lame. I do thinnk I prefer the look of my car to the Ls, but I am going to go drive one today and see.

I have an 01 with Sport suspension and the car does handle suprisingly well with a slightly more aggresive stance and i think the TRD swaybars,( correct me if im wrong). But its not low enough for me, (The BC racing coilovers are on the way!!!) the car has a Sport Suspension emblem on the front fenders.

if you plan on getting a UL and want it lower you should just get a datasystem.
