clucking? Are you sure there is not a chicken stuck in your engine compartment? LOL...

I had a similar problem with my 03 LS. I took it to lexus several times and they never fixed it completely. They replaced a myriad of components and nothing ever fixed it. They replaced some bushings (can't remember, it's been so long) and that made it better for a while.

So, hopefully someone here can help you, because I assure you, the dealer is going not going to be a great help if your situation is anything like mine was. Luckily, I was on lease, so I was able to get rid of the car. The replacement - my 04 LS - has Air Suspension and I have never been happier.

It's not rocket science.
First of all, start off by NOT going to Lexus. Find a good local mechanic and save $$$.
Second, there is a finite number of things that can cause the noise. I will list them in the order of decreasing probability:

1 - Upper control arm bushings
2 - Ball joint
3 - Strut bar bushings
4 - Sway bar bushings and/or links
5 - Upper strut mount bushing
6 - Strut itself
7 - A bottle of scotch in the glove box (ask me how I know)

Once the cause has been identified and fixed, do a wheel alignment and tire rotation.

Good luck!

I agree to what Rice said.

And if the tires are feathering fast, then definitely suspension-related.

Make sure the chicken didn't lay an egg somewhere and it's rolling around making that noise

Does it look like #5 or #6 below?
The difference is about $160.
Ask them to check out the other side as well. Chances are it is in the same condition or will be very soon. Doing both sides will save you an extra wheel alignment.

that pic does not look like the 03 LS front suspension they are probably talking about the rearward lower control arm bushings with the carriers that adjust caster.

The picture was taken from 05, which is the same as 03 and 95+ as a mater of fact. There is no traditional lower control arm. Instead, LS is using a strut bar for softer ride. Personally, I would prefer traditional double wishbone setup, but what do I know
