smart key information
I am struggling with the smart key workings, There are the 3 keys and the credit card. Any simple explanation would be appreciated as i am having trouble with the manual. Maybe I am 50 and things do not come as quick as they used to. Thanks in advance I will now be a Lexus driver for life.

ha ha.Anyway, the three keys:
2 x Master keys. These should have all three buttons (lock/panic, unlock, and trunk).
a. These allow you to enter and exit as you please without ever removing your key. Just by slipping your hands into the handle bar, you can lock or unlock your door.
b. For the unlocking, you can set it to unlock one door (the door you open), one side (the side you open from), or all four doors.
c. You can also set each key to recognize your seat settings (1, 2, or 3) upon entering the vehicle to a particular key. So, for your key, you can set it to setting 1, then for your spouse's key, set to setting 2 (or whichever is which, you get idea.)
d. Metal "pull out" key is for if the battery say dies on you, then you can use that to open the doors, trunk, glove box, etc. Anything that uses a physical key. Upon entering the vehicle, you then insert the short, narrow, portion of the key, into the ignition and turn as with any "regular" car. The transponder in the key will work even if battery is dead.
1. Valet key, looks just like the master key, but no trunk button.
a. does not work like Smartaccess, the valet must use the buttons. Doesn't do much, except that it locks, unlocks, the car, and allows it to be started by inserting the key and turning. Will not unlock the glove box, or open the trunk. Keep in mind, you must "lock" the trunk with the puch lock or the valet can open the trunk by pulling the trunk lever. There is a transponder in the key to start the car, but not to be used to unlock like SmartAccess.
Flat key card, which has what looks to be a "L" shaped key, and a square/rectangular thingy.
Used like a valet key of sorts, but for you when you're in a jam and lost your key. The L-key will open the door for you, and the other square thing will start your car up when inserted and turned. Purely for emergency when you lose your key.
Ya know you can really feel the joy of 0-60 in 5.9 and feel your organs move around, but the real joy is the consistent power band you can move in and out of so rapidly that makes this car such a dream.
I did drive 6-7 of these when I was looking and almost settled for a park ave(some where so overpriced at dealers, this same car could of been over 25 g's at a dealer, and appleton wiscosnin is not the Lexus capital of the world.
I am really happy with this one now that I am beginning to know its character. It shifts almost impercievable. Also driving swiftly on rotten broken roads leaves a real feeling of security the suspension is so smooth. Wanna race LOL WARM

!!! BUICK ?!??!!? The "Tiger" almost suckered you into getting a Bu-ICK ?Lexus is to Pamela Andersen, like Buick is to Louie Andersen...

The LS430 is just so, unintrusive. It's the 320 ft.lb (or more) of torque that matters, not the unimpressive 290hp. With my previous cars, when a gap would come up on the left, I'd have to flip the blinkers and charge into the spot at high rev. With the LS, it's just flp the blinker and glide into the spot. It's so effortless.
It drives too smooth, which gives many BMW/MB drivers the sense that it's "boring" and has no fun. Hey, you want fun and loud engine noise, drive a Dodge Neon.
Anyway got a call from the previous owner who was envious I got the LS for 17,5000. Said the dealer wanted him to buy out the lease for 26k. Go figure, send it to the auction for less than 17,5000 when you demand 26 from the leasee.
Anyway fella called from Palm Desert, CA and I told him I was in our first 1/2 inch storm of the seasom, fist snow for the LS he said(my poor baby was getting a chill). All Lexus service, never a problem, new windshield. Confirmed alot of highway miles from the midwest to west coats. WARM

Any idea why my various trip computer functions do not reset? I push the various functions then hit reset and get nothing.
How many of the functions actually reset?
For the trip computers, all the "measured" ones (i.e. mpg/avg. speed/miles) can be reset, but things like range left/miles since fillup can not be reset because they're not things resetable based on time, but on when you fill up on gas. To reset, same thing, press and hold "reset" on the steering wheel for about 2-3 seconds and let go.
