Default TankOnEmpty.com

I saw this site on 20/20 last night where people drive their cars until they run out of gas, and then report how far they went after the tank on "E". Based on two votes for our car it wil go 37-65 miles until no gas is left, nice reserve the LS has.

most cars have 3 gallons left when the warning light goes on right ? isn't that standard ?

the ls430 warning light sure seems to go on early.

A lot of cars these days have fuel pumps that are located inside the gas tanks. They do this so that the gasoline inside the tank keeps the pump cool. Running to car to empty can cause these pumps to fail. Which then means you have to pay a mechanic to pump out the fresh tank of gas you put in after you ran out, drop your gas tank, and replace the pump.

Sounds like a bunch of tools logging into this site...

Arrow I do it often

A 2003 LS430 has a 22.2 gal tank.

As soon as light goes on, I pull into station and fill 21.281 gals.

I get 22-23 MPG around town; only 26 on freeway++ long trip of 2500 miles.
I use C/C every chance I get.

I have put reg U/L 2x of only 5gals to see if any MPG difference--none...
loss of power yes but I don't push my car at all.
