Question Remote Start for 05 LS YES or NO!

I've done hours of research on this.

Has any one installed one in there LS? I have an 05 UL and would love one. Some posts suggest push starts in other Lexus models have them, they just need to carry two remotes. My local installer won't touch it.

I was looking at some of the new Cobra after market ones, which seem reputable and the remote is small enough to not be a huge inconvenience. In the other thread there was a Lexus brand remote start w/ a digital screen. I'd prefer to go OEM, but not necessary.

Why don't more of you have them, if they are available? It seams as though most of you live in a climate that would require A/C, heat, or both!

Thanks for your feedback peeps!

Yes It has the smart key. I can't believe no one has an interest in this.

You need to call Toyota Service and ask them if the alarm system has an available auxiliary port. If it does, it would be easy to add a stand-alone unit.

In my opinion, remote start is a novelty. I had one installed before and I was all hyped up having it and using it. Then the novelty of it begins to wear off. You don't really need to heat up or cool down a car unless you live in extreme parts of the country. In summer, just open your doors for 15 seconds to let the heat out and turn on your air conditioners. For Winter, if its really that cold, you'll be wearing a jacket anyway so waiting 4 minutes for the car to heat up is not really that bad.

I had a top of the line Compustar alarm/remote start put in my S2000. I could roll windows down, open the convertible top, start engine, etc. But I found that after 2 weeks of starting the car remotely, it wasn't really necessary. I just used it to lock and unlock my doors. So $1000 system mainly unused.

I want to thank all of you for your sharing of knowledge "other than Refined Elegance with the offsets lol" If it weren't for this forum I would not own a UL, I would most likely have settled for a different model. Although I discovered the UL on outotrader.com You guys "and girls" educated me far more than any other site would have.

I have a 2 year old who is sensitive to the cold and another baby on the way, plus I prefer not to freeze my *** off for 5 minutes when my office is only 10 minutes from my house.

The price for a decent unit is $300 - $ 500 installed. We have it on my wife's SUV and use it all winter. I understand it is novelty, I got the UL because I like options that make life more enjoyable. Some people look at the vehicle as a way to get from point A to point B, the best part of our day is getting from A to B, that's what this forum is all about.

I see there is little interest in remote starts for LS owners, understandable for the most part as most of you live in different climates. I will do some more research and post my findings for any one who may want one.

My rims get here from ACE on the 27th and my car gets here from Texas on the 29th

Aside from the remote start, the main option for an aftermarket alarm is to get it for the glass breakage sensor, an extremely weak point in the lexus system.

Talking 05 LS 430 remote start? YES!

Lexus of Norwood can do it for $550.00 "$250 more than the normal remate start!" with a seperate controller and you are not able to use your fob when the car has been started with the remote. When you turne the car off it will automaticly reactivate your fob.
