I had myself locked to the wrong region firmware once, but that was in the nav unit's menu (it's the 'override'one, touch tl, bl, tl, bl, br at the DVD info screen). Had to de-solder the nav unit's batt/ionistor to reset the region. So really be careful there.
The one described by TS is a monitor head's menu (and it lets you into some other systems, incl. bluetooth etc). There's really only info screens and test screens there and you really can't mess it up that much. The useful there is Voltmeter in some of the menus (vehicle sensors if i'm correct).

If you want similar screen on 2001 with display, you can try this:
switch ign off, all lights off, start engine, press and hold INFO button on the right of the screen (physical button), turn parking lights on/off/on/off/on/off. the menu will pop up. release INFO.
you got to have particular timing turning the lights on and off.
Be careful in these service menus. I remember a thread from some time ago where someone hit the wrong button and get himself locked into a Japanese-only part of the system from which he had to visit the dealer to recover.
that might've been me. forgot what exactly i clicked on, but it wouldn't get me change back to US/English.
That's was idea but I don't know what happen to my touchscreen coz only the upper part of the screen actually works so it would be very hard to access all those options, so I would really appreciate it if someone could help me around it. My display message is always radio off n I don't know how to turn it on
