Well, I have ran through several threads outlining the cost and the DIY factor with the brakes on the LS.
Upon inspection of my brakes, I couldn't tell if they needed replacing, so I took my car to a place called "Brake Check" in Texas. Their shop was spotless, the workers were well dressed, and they look very reputible.
They removed the wheels and inspected my front and rear brakes for FREE. They said my front brakes were almost brand new but my rear brakes were getting pretty worn down. I asked for a quote on replacing the all the brakes.
He quoted:
$119 for the front plus $50 to turn the rotors
$109 for the rear plus $50 to turn the rotors
OR
$25.00 per front or back, labor only.
I had them do the rear brakes. They charged me $149.00 total for Lifetime pads, labor, and turning the rotors. I received a 20% discount because I scheduled ahead of time.
I think I got a great deal here! Just wanted to share.
I just paid $299 to get the rears done at the dealer. I'm big on using OEM pads, but I still feel like I got shafted. I also paid $150 to have the brake fluid flushed, $199 for a trans flush, and $99 for a differential flush.

I think got a good deal but on the Ls430 front brakes. The lower control arms are aluminum, you supposed to replace the 2 bolts when doing front brakes. And you would have to torque the bolts down to exact 81 ftlbs. I have seen people just use the impact to run these bolts down
JPI
Run them down by hand only and then torque it to 81 ftlbs or your brake job would be ...Costly. I know a place down the street from us had to replace the entire control arm because they didn't know better.

The brake system on the LS430 is amazing they say it's the best of the import sedans. Thats my opinion at least i might buy a brembo system just for the look what u guys think?

Thanks for the info! Lucky for me the front brakes were in almost brand new condition.
When are you guys opening your Corpus branch? lol
Anyhow, they were very impressed with the brakes on the LS.

Brembo just for looks I agree its nice but to spend that much $$ for I would believe not much more performance as the LS has the big brakes already. I would personally get some nice wheels instead. Just my $0.02

Noticed that on a more current thread that there was no mention of replacing these bolts. Anyone know why you have to replace them? When I bought my pads from Sewell Lexus they sold me 8 bolts. Two for each wheel also 4 are longer. The part #'s are: 90105-14151 & 90105-14152
what bolts ? sorry new to ls430. I'm going to need to get my brakes checked soon, it's starting to vibrate when I brake from a fast speed.

Certainly someone must know about the bolts that Lexus says should be replaced.
