How do you remove the stock sub? From the trunk, back seats, or just directly from the top? Thanks in advance.

But you must get a non-free air sub for this to work (majority are not free air sub's anyways).
I am probably going this route. I have a question though...will the factory amp be enough to drive the new sub or will I have to buy a separate amp?

I was talking about how you were referring to Bose being a better name. It is actually not. But if it suits your ears, then do what makes you happy, I was talking as far as brands are concerned, there are no comparisons (in price or quality).

It really depends on your ear. If you want more bass, then you’re not going to enjoy the system in the LS. However, there is no doubt that the LS has very clear speakers for those who don’t require as much bass. However, I wish Lexus had given us the choice to moderate the bass to our liking, instead of doing that for us. My ML in my GS provides much more bass then the LS. However, the clarity of the sound coming from the LS blows the doors off my GS.

Exactly. Bose provides more bass, but lacks severally in mid range, just throws it out the window. Now depending on what kind of music you listen too, it could work out for you well. I listen to some high frequency trace, and some classical, and Bose just sounds very bad. However, if you listen to mainly pop, rap, or rock you might like the Bose system better.

I've seen it done on another GS... looked great, didn’t take any trunk room, and sounded awesome.

I think on the LS, you might have to pull them off, and the top rack to access the sub. (thats how my 98 LS was like). You remove the seat cushion first, thent he back.

NO, you need a separate amp... but any good amp with 400 or less watts of power will do just fine.

Sound is very subjective. With that said I agree with GrandLS4's statements. I personally have run a number of systems in all my cars from Chevy's to Lexus's. I remember pushing the old Rockford Fosgate in 2 ohm and just ripping it up. With that said I love my ML system in my 2004 LS Ultra. It doesn't have to be loud enough for the next guy to hear nor do I need to feel everything I that's being played. I do love my home audio though for those of you in the know, I have Black Diamond Racing cones on all my equipment which is being fed with the new PS Audio Power Plant Premier. As always this is just my opinion to each his own.

The ML System is by far the most MUSICAL (Tonality and Imaging) that I've heard on MOST of the OEM Systems out there..Hell even better than 'some' after market systems I've heard and I have listened to A LOT! Being a Car Audio competitor for a few years, I've decided that all my ML System really needed was a little more UMPH on the bass section and I did just that...Remove the Sub and added an aftermarket pair of subwoofers and separate amp.

I second that Mike, do you have any pictures and details of the install? How did you work around the cool box and rear a/c?

Here you go..

As far as running wires...there are a LOT of things to be removed...the Seats, the Subwoofer, the Trunk Liner and the subwoofer...then you need to make perforations to the top of the trunk liner to let the bass in the cabin a little better....

Take it to a pro...that you trust.
