Default Engine Coolant Flush Schedule

I was looking thru the owner's manual of my 2004 LS430 and noticed many times they say to "check" engine coolant. But it doesn't seem to list (or maybe I missed) the regular schedule to flush the coolant. When should this be done?

Did you check the owner's manual for the service schedule? I don't have mine in front of me or I'd look it up...

I DID check the owner's manual and either I missed it (I looked twice) or it doesn't list it. Don't any of you EVER change coolant? I am surprised this question is not easily answered.

Here in Canada, engine coolant is scheduled to be replaced initially at 36 months/48,000 kms, or 30,000 miles. After that, they recommend changing it every 24 months/24,000 kms or 15,000 miles You can find the info (assuming you get the same manuals as we do) in the Owners Manual Supplement, in the Factory Recommended Maintenance Schedule section under Fluids. Another place you can see it, is by going into www.lexus.com, joining Lexus Club for us, and My Lexus for you. Then, you can register your car, and call up the full maintenance schedule, which will include when your engine coolant needs to be replaced. Note that you will need to turn off your pop-up blocker (under tools in IE7) in order to use it.

Thanks! About how much should I expect to pay to have the coolant flushed/replaced?

Here in Canada, if you go to a Lexus dealer, the Coolant System Flush Service is $121Cdn or $100US. I go to a Lexus trained mechanic with his own shop, and it is $57Cdn or $47US.

Thanks! I am at 36K miles. At 40K I'll have that done along with the brake fluid flush that I never did.

Toyota has released the pink long life fluid that lasts 100,000 Miles. Not sure if your LS has it
