My car doesn't have nagivation. Someone is selling the whole unit. Does anyone ever put one on the car? Would that be just plug and play to replace the non-navigation system with the navigation? The part came from the same model year. Thanks.

much more than plug and play. you probably will need the harness as well, which is expensive. and i dn't know where the nav ecu is, is it in the trunk? if so, that's probably where the drive is as well? might need to get more parts there

Thanks H. I guess I will just stay put then .

On a totally different subject, I notice I have a much less brake dust on my LS430 than any other cars I've had including Mercedes, Acura ...

The brake dust is much better but the brake itself is much worse (don't know why as someone pointed out I might have bubles on the brake lines). With the Mercedes, I could stop on a dime.

Brakes on the LS 430 are great, I owned the S-class also and the ML500 and there is a different feel to the braking but, the LS is great as far as braking. Also if driven right, brake wear is slow.

GOD IS GOOD!

The rotors and pads are still more than 50% left and I don't drive fast at all (if I want speed, I go drive my mercedes because with all due respect to LS430 members, the LS430 is too slow for a V8). In fact I avoid braking if possible by taking my foot off the gas pedal sooner than I should approaching stop sign and traffic (because I don't trust the brake on this car). The car just turn 35K miles, would this be too early?

you never bleed the brakes before? if so, you might want to do so, and also check to make sure there are no leaks and fluid level are good in the system. i bleed my brakes almost once a yr.

and it's pretty easy to tell if tehre are bubbles. it's like when you press on teh brakes, you dont' get anything. but if you release and press again, or press harder, suddenly the brakes come on

The fluid is fine (I changed it like 2 months ago). There appears no leaks either. I am more convinced that it's the bubles because if I depress the brake pedal two times (or more) in a row, the brake seems to response much better. I never bleed the brakes before. Thanks for the info.

I don't experience very much brake dust either and it actually surprised me since I came from the other extreme, a twin turbo 350Z (custom). However, I think the brakes work rather well for such a large sedan. If I were you, I would be on the safe side and ensure that your brake lines do not have any air in them (resulting in poor deceleration). I've seen too many people get into an accident when they changed their own break pads . . .

ok that definitely sounds like bubbles. especially two different pulses and you feel different braking power. it should be always consistent

i say get it fixed soon, it could be dangerous
