well i don't have pics of ls430 but all my lexus (gs4, is3, and sc430) are tinted. imho it's a must. it's better for the interior i think and also looks much better.

my gs4 has light interior so i went with 35%, but on my is3 and sc430 i went with 45%. for dark interior i don't want it to look way too dark

If you're going to tint your car, I'd suggest a Llumar 15% tint all around and dont forget to tint the front windshield. You are already doing something illegal by tinting the front passenger/driver windows for the sake of your interior, why not fully protect it with a lighter tint? I'd say 50% on the front just to be safe with the law. I am planning to take my car back someday and get that front windshield tinted. It is pretty irritating to have my car blocked with 15% tint all around and nothing in the front.

Cool

I put Llumar tint on my ES, 20% all around. Get a metalized tint of good quality (3m, Llumar are very good) as it will last much longer & is fade resistant. It really enhances the appearance of the car. What color is your LS?

Question Will it screw up the NAV?

The Llumar web site has a lists of tint laws for the US and Canada: http://llumar.com/na-eng/Automotive/...int-laws.html#.

I have a silver/black 2003 LS430 and am wondering about tint, too, but I'm gunshy. I've read a lot of posts on this site about tints interfering with both the NAV and satallite radio, in particular the metallic tints. A graduated mirror tint would look really cool with Milennium silver and the black interior, but not so cool if it lost the NAV.

Anybody have any experience with tints and NAV/Satallite radio?

thats a myth.. I had my GS4 and SC430 tinted in the past with 20% on all windows and both cars had nav. Everything was working the way it should. Im thinking about doing the 35% tint this time since the car has sun blinds on the side and rear window.

Well, of course! The little rubber antenna on the back of the LS is the GPS antenna. Duh! It is the people with aftermarket GPS that use an antenna on the back deck beneath the metallic-tinted rear window that have the problem. Is that it?

Anybody know what the standard factory percentage tints are? My wife's 2001 RX is dark green and has a sort of metallic green tint to the rear window and doors. It is pretty opaque to viewing. Black RXs have the same or a more silvery tint. My 03 LS has a pale green tint with no reflectivity. These are all factory standard.

i just got my ls430 model 200l silver tinted with metallic film all around with film called "V Kool" it is clear white with 30% shade but it reflects most of the heat and UV, the car is cool but i have the problems immediately 2 days after the tint"

1) the navigation GPS went off. the GPS little receicer icon (top left corner) came 2 times then went off comletely. the may goes crazy as welll.
2) the check icon on the dashborad (like the engine pic or helicopter pc) came in so i am getting worried now and really disappointed, hope it is the tint not something else.
i hope some one can gimme advise

Make sure you GPS receiver is on the outside of you car.. It should be located on the back of your trunk lid.. Small square box...

I have a black LS with ivory interior. I got 35% tint on the sides and rear. As far as looks, it didn't black out the windows enough, because the interior is so light. Almost, but not enough for my taste. On the other hand, the windows are still easy to see out of at night. 20% tint would be too dark to see out of easily at night. I know this because my buddy has it and it sucks. The solution is to raise the sunshades on the back window and the rear side windows. It blacks out the windows just right. Plus if I have issues with visibility I can lower the sunshades and see easier, something I can't do with 20% tint. I also went with a non-metallic tint to avoid intefering with AM radio signals, if I ever decide to use the AM radio, which I have on occasion. Now if you have a black interior, 35% tint should be plenty, even without the sunshades raised. If you prefer the limo black look, of course then you may want a darker tint.

Just out of curiousity, where you guys are from...what is the legal tint? Here in Hawaii, you can have 35% at the darkest at the sides and rear but NO tint on the front. For SUV's and Vans, you can have as dark as you want at any window behind the front seats.

They're pretty strict about it here and the fine is about $90 per window.

Right now I have 35% on my LS. I'd rather not worry about getting tickets.

When I had mu Benz, I went with 5% sides and rear and my windshield was 35%. That was insane...pretty hard to see at night.
