Talking Bought 2002 ls 430 Ultra

After research that lasted almost 6 months and considering many cars, just bought a silver 2002 LS 430 Ultra thru Ebay. she will be delivered in 2 weeks. I am very happy and very excited. Can't wait for the delivery date.
I have a question if you do not mind helping me. Is there a major service at 60,000 miles, and if so what is the cost of that service at the lex dealer and what does it include. The current milage on the car is 56000.

Thanks for the help.

Your welcome!

Are you also receiving the service records?
Also, no major service is required at 60,000 miles like the timing belt etc if that chart is accurate. Says 90,000 miles or 72 months.

Yes, I should recieve all the records, and as you said the major service is at 90000 miles. I do not think the 60000 miles service should cost more than $500.00 based on what I saw in the Chart.
I cannot wait till I get the car, it should arrive in 2 weeks.

congrats on your ride.... just curious, why would people buyany car without actually seeing it. while we were searching for our01+LS, i ran across many great or about right deals on these LS but prior to purchasing the LS, to my suprise, i found out that some were in poor condition. ie; some were repainted and i could tell, bumper crack, the interior were dirty on the ecru, etc.. man! some of these previous owner DO NOT know how to take care of their car. on the ad, it sound great and the pictures seem perfect but when i got up close it not worth buying even if they sold it $10K cheaper.... well that's just my experience when i was searching for my gf's LS.. i would have to seet the car in person and check every mm of it before i shell out $40K plus on any vehicle

Default THAT SERVICE CAN COST AS MUCH AS YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY

Hello,
I bought my 99 GS4 in June 2004 with 59,000 miles on it. The previous owner decided to have the 60,000 mile service done at 58,600 miles, then abruptly traded the car in.

Some of his paperwork was still in the car, and HE paid $1300 for the service. Nothing was changed except for the synthetic oil, air , oil, and Air conditioning filters, and a drain and flush of the transmission, cooling system, and differential.

The tires were balanced, and all door hinges were greased. No spark plugs or timing belt was changed, nor was an alignment done. They should have changed the serpentine belt due to age, but they did not. I changed it a month ago.

This is rather expensive if you ask me, but since the guy was 75 years old, he probably paid whatever the service department charged him.

Just be careful with service requirements. The dealership will sell you just about anything you don't object to.

And before I forget....CONGRATULATIONS ON THAT NEW CAR!

Mine is silver with black interior also.

I think if you do your research and use one of the inspection companies and check the sellers feedback, you should be ok. Also if you call the seller and have a feel for the guy and then make your decision. I bought a motorcyle for $10000 on Ebay and a fellow coworker just bought a 2000 Porsche 911 for $43000 and both transactions were excellent. I hope mine will continue the trend.

Unhappy

Guess what guys, I received the car yesterday and it turned to be LS430 with Nav and ML, but it is not Ultra package as described by the seller on Ebay.
I contacted the seller and informed him about the situation. He mentioned to me that he was told by a Mercedes dealer that he got it from, that it was an Ultra, he said he will check with them and call me back.
I need some feedback from forum members about the following.
He offered me to return the car and he will refund my money including shipping cost.
Or he said that if I want to keep the car, we can negotiate a price break.
The car is in excellent condition other than it needs a new set of tires which he told me previously.
I am leaning to keeping the car, how much should I ask for a settlement?
The car is 2002 LS430 with 57000 miles which I paid for $34000.

Thanks,

thats is a great price you paid for the car

but i think if the ultra is what you wanted

then i think you know what you want to do

if it was me it would always be in the back of my mind

should have bought the ultra should have bought the ultra should have bought the ultra

good luck

IMHO you should return the car to the sellor immediately and then go find the Ultra you want. This sounds like a typical "bait and switch" deal and typical of a lot of sellers both on eBay and elsewhere. I'll bet that the sellor knows how much Ultras are in demand and this lie is his way of moving the car quickly.

Keeping the car and doing a "settlement" with him will just incourage him to repeat this behavior and screw others in the future.

I agree with Kansas, it seems like you really want an UL. I dont know about you, but if it were me, i would be happy the first few months, then that will come back to hunt me later on.

I say send it back to him, and let him refund your money 100%. and look for UL thats going to make you smile everytime you step inside your car.

But if you REALLLLLLLY like this car, and your the type that wont dwell on it, then ask him for 4K for your troubles and "suprise".
