Default Replacing low beams

Hi guys,

I currently have a 2005 Lexus ls430. The low beams are still original bulbs. They don't seem to light up the road that well. When I hit the high beams, it is a lot brighter. I was wandering if its just the type of bulbs that aren't that bright or maybe the age of the bulbs being 20 years old, they dimmed over time. Has anyone replaced the original bulbs and noticed a big improvement?

Thanks, Tim

They definitely dim over time. I went with the Sylvania D2R bulbs in my 03 and ot made a considerable difference. I haven't messed with it in my 04 yet. They are still super bright.

There is no question they dim. I've had my 2005 since 2009 and they were best low beams ever. Still wide and brighter than many other cars (not all), but dimmer and yellow. In next year or so when I get my damaged bumper replaced, I will get all new bulbs (high, low, fog). Not sure I need bumper out for that, but I'll take care of it at once.

I'd like to know if anyone knows how to replace the parking lamp bulb on the passenger side. If it is done easily, or, simply remove bumper and replace all the bulbs including headlight while in there.

I found one post where a person seemed to imply it's easy, but it didn't really describe the process etc. It would seem pass side is easier than driver side....

You pay your local body shop $75, they drop the bumper, replace your low beams, high beams, parking lights with amber T10’s, then put your bumper back perfectly.
