Default Floor mat clip piece

Is the round piece sold by Lexus? One of mine is split in half (I’m guessing someone was being rough when they removed a floor mat and broke it) so the clip moves around. Very annoying and I just got my hands on a set of new oem floor mats so would like to fix this if possible!

Well, did some digging and found this reply in ES section

go to toyota dealer, ask for carpet grommet repair kit.....there is one available because during the floor mat recalls toyota created a repair kit for missing carpet clip grommets to keep peoples floor mats from coming loose since the clips always rip the grommets out of the floor carpet. i bet they still have a few in stock they would sell you or even give to you with new clips.

And this thread in the Ls460 section:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...et-issues.html

A lot of work to repair a little grommet!

Genuine Toyota Carpet Mat Hole Repair Clip 5829750020. Purchased from ebay in the UK for £9 each. Used the split mat hook with pin to lock in place, this stops the mat hook from pulling out.

@Dusty61 so according to this thread, the part number for the actual floor mat clips also changed.

Do you know if the older clip part number, 08210-00820, will work with the new style grommets? Also, did you have to lift the carpet up to put that grommet piece underneath the hole?

This looks like the hooks I used and fit in the replacement grommet, the ones that were in the car didn't have the pin facility. These grommets are classed as a repair and are not identical to the original fitted by the carpet manufacturer. You can struggle by forcing your arm under the carpet after removing the trim along the sill area and up to the next joint level with the base of the dash. Unhook the carpet edge and push between the floor/carpet. I have big arms so found it easier to unbolt the seat and tilt the whole seat back to release that area of carpet. Doesn't take long and you will need to trim the carpet fibres that have pushed into the hole. I used an 8 or maybe 10mm bolt with large washers to thread through the middle of the grommet and once the two halves were aligned, tighten gently to clip the two halves together. I couldn't get them to click together by hand. Have used a couple of these and as long as you make sure the parts are in line then they work very well.

I think Toyota still uses these in many of these 2023 models. P/N 08210-00820. I just bought a pack on Ebay (from Glendale Toyota) for $6.30 including shipping for 2 sets (4 pcs). Should arrive the end of this week.

So no matter what the carpet has to be brought up for any fix regarding this?

Unfortunately so, same as if you need to replace your downstream O2 sensors, the connection is under the carpet on the transmission tunnel 🙄

The wire for the secondary O2 sensors that screw into the Y-pipe (downstream of the Primary CATs) have wires that come into the car and the connectors are under the carpet.
Not the best piece of design, but thankfully, those O2 sensors rarely need replacing.

The primary O2 sensors screw into the manifold so are 100% in the engine bay which is why their connectors get brittle and often disintegrate when you go to replace them.
