Default Hardwiring dashcam

I've searched but no real conclusive information if there is i apologize for this thread. I'm looking to hardwire a dashcam, specifically fuse tapping. Would it be ok to fuse tap into the cigarette lighter? Side note, is it possible to mirror tap into the rear view mirror? No such video exists on youtube.

yes, the cig lighter is switched with the iginition, and that is a good easy source of power that is close to where you need it to be. just add a fuse in your setup and you should be fine no matter what happens

I tapped into the wires that feed the cigarette lighter to connect a 12v-USB charger that powers my cellphone and my TomTom satnav. Works well and powers off with ignition off.
If you are looking for ignition switched power in the mirror area, I don't think you will find any. The LCD in the mirror is unpowered normally, and is then powered when it switches to night mode.

The driver side fuse box is quite a pain to get to. Suggest using the one on the passenger side floor kick panel.
