Default Haters gonna hate

I don’t know what it is with certain people, but have any you experienced other drivers either riding your ***, then just to pull up beside you, and then gun it like they are trying to one up you at a stop light?

I’ve noticed this with drivers in ****ty old Altima’s, some new Civics, Accords, of course BMW A-hole drivers, and big lifted trucks (Bro Dozers).

Im not sure what the deal is, but I get this feeling like other drivers hate on my car or try to not get beat by me off the line if they are in something brand new just because they most likely don’t want to feel inferior on the roadways to an older car.

Some people just hate when you’re in something clean looking, and they’re not.

What are your guys experiences?

Here in the UK, if someone is riding your ***, then it normally means you are slow and need to pull over.
If they are doing it where you can't pull over or speed up, then they are simply A-holes.
We are not allowed to pass on the inside (left) here.

We don't really get people wanting to race here.
I think I have been challenged twice in my life, and for one of those I was on my motorcycle and the car driver was in a *****box with 3 of his teenage buddies.
I left the lights in 2nd and didn't really try very hard and still beat him by miles. At the next lights he very pointedly stayed behind me.
The other instance I was in my 98 Honda Legend (Acura RL) and he was in a Porsche. I beat him to about 60' but after that he was gone.

I have raced friends many times and the closest I ever had vs a car was against an RX7-TwinTurbo that had been heavily modded.
He very nearly beat my 100k mile £1500 value GTR1000 (Kawasaki Concours) with his £45k race-prepped go-kart.
For a car it was impressive, and when he let me squeeze myself in and take it for a test drive, it handled beautifully as well.
In my LS430 I often beat others away from the lights, but that is because I am awake and aware and they are asleep or fiddling with their phones.

Haters just have insecurity issues so they spend their lives trying to compensate by constantly competing with everything and anything to prove their "prowess". <LOL>

A common experience here in Toronto, and just the other evening to me here on my way home...and yes,a moron in a BMW ... actually started with flashing lights, which I dislike immensely, then the pull ahead to come abreast of me at the light. I personally stick to side roads to avoid these idiots and to maintain my tranquility driving the old girl. Keep safe and don't let the bastards wear you down. Always avoid a confrontation. It's not worth it

This happens to me as well. It's most annoying when they ride your *** when you're approaching a red light. It's like... what do you want me to do, hurry up so we can stop faster? I think the issue with the LS430 isn't how other people perceive the car, it's that the car doesn't encourage fast driving so I tend to drive it leisurely (not slow, just not in a hurry). There's very little perceived difference between going the speed limit and going 10 or even 15 over because the car is so solid and quiet. The engine effortlessly pushes the car to any legal speed limit and there's very little extra sound or drama in going fast, or faster, so there's no thrill to be had there. The transmission always shifts up and down smoothly regardless of whether it's being pushed hard or not. So even when driven fast, the car doesn't give you the "fast driving experience" that you'd get in a lesser car, or in a sports car, so I feel like "why bother?" And I think that's what irritates people.

Agreed. I enjoy the peace and tranquillity of my car and at the age of 70, I have no need to rush anywhere anytime soon. Enjoy your ride for a long time to come!

I've noticed people trying to get past me at a light, or of the lanes merge. They assume that an old person is driving because of the make and model, and don't want to get slowed down. I'm 61, but I tend to drive my LS430 like its an LFA.

Here in Colorado, we have a melting pot of drivers from all over the country, and it's pretty much the Indy 500 wherever you drive.

I like to call the fast drivers "gunners" because most people nowadays seem to think that the gas pedal either has to be gunned all the way to the floor, or nothing at all ...

The transmission repair shops must make a killing around here, especially with how hard people are on their cars in the mountains.

I’ve had several road rage incidents in my LS430…maybe it’s a SoCal thing, I’m in San Diego. I’ve even thought to myself that it must be the car is provoking their feelings of inferiority, and they need to respond in whatever way they can. People are triggered by a flagship LS I guess…I don’t remember it ever happening with my other Lexus vehicles, but I’ve also owned this one for way longer than any of the previous cars (2 SC400’s, 1 GS430, 1 GS450h). Sometimes if they start getting crazy behind me like flashing brights and/or honking then I just deploy the rear sunshade which can make it crazier because they don’t like “elites” with peasant blockers lololol. I don’t know if it’s my specific color combo, black on black with chrome wheels and tinted windows all around which is so provoking to them or if all colors experience this.
