The navigation system in my Lexus LS430 is apparently unfixable. So I was looking online for a substitute, thinking I would get something that sits on the dashpad or clips on or something, and immediately ran into problems. Keep in mind that I am ignorant about these things.
One said battery life one hour, so that was unacceptable. Then there was blathering about USB connections which I am guessing is to get non-battery power, but as far as I can tell, the is no USB socket on the car. I am perfectly willing to have some sort of power pack sitting on the passenger;s seat with the thing plugged into that with a lifetime of at least six hours. (nb I don't have a smart phone.)
Is there some system like that or equally useful? Thank you.
You should get a Garmin or other navigation system. Look on Amazon, they have a wide variety. We have one for my wifes car that does not have a Nav system and it works great. They are powered through the 12v ports (you have 3). They can be updated and some come with Bluetooth.
Alternatively, if your screen is ok, buy a new Navigation "player" on Ebay, very easy to put in. They are around $150 to $200 and units from many Toyota models fit the LS430.
