Default Consumer Reports trashes Edge and Sync system.

Just got the latest issue of CR and the Edge and MKwhatever did pretty bad. They disliked the computerized Sync infotaintment system saying it had needless steps and was a major distraction. I don't see how this could be any different than a typical touchscreen navigation set up, but maybe it isn't as user friendly. Overall, I was disappointed to hear this, as most reviews of Sync have been positive thus far.

I'll bet you didn't know the 'doink' sound on the Sync system is the same exact 'doink' when you start a new BMW with the push-button system.

I tried using a Sync the other day and I dunno if I'm getting old or what but I COULD NOT fathom the controls on the screen. They are super disorganized and try to pack way too much info and options onto one screen imo.

Wow, really? If true, that is a major flaw that Ford overlooked. Strange, given all the praise the Sync system has been getting.

Ah, I see. Is there some way I can update my IS350's system to have it ran by Microsoft?

I test drove the new Edge with Sync and wasn't very impressed with the system. Sure the GUI looks pretty sweet, but its very slow and not very finger friendly. The voice commands are supposed to be pretty comprehensive tho.

not if you want your dash to display nothing but a blue background with a bunch of jibberish white text

then the car would spontaneously combust

lol

the sync i played with on the Ford Fusion rental wasnt that great
i was not particularly impressed
i would prefer something with a navi screen as my main control
