Question What OBD reader will not trigger vsc light?

I know this is caused by cheap readers. But what exactly is it that causes an OBD reader to trigger the vsc light? Or what can I look for in a OBD reader that won't cause this.

I had a cel last week for 02 sensors and my vsc light came on after using the reader. I had to use the paper clip ghetto rig method to reset it. I don't mind buying a new reader but what do I look out for so it doesn't trigger vsc?

I have a "repair solutions" scanner and it trips VSC as well, which brand do you have

I don't remember if it is exactly but it's just some cheap Amazon one.

Looks like LAUNCH OBD2 Scanner CR319, just a 4 button plug in one.

I keep seeing those ads with Carly that you can mess with your cars options/ coding but I don't think those will work with our cars? Cuz we old school and need tech stream.

First I heard of this issue...

I guess I should ask, what needs to be done to get the VSC light to turn back off?

I had the same problem with the first reader I purchased. From an earlier thread, I read that the reader most be capable of reading ABS. I upgraded and no longer had that problem....but that is not to say that if you erase any error codes, that in itself might trigger the VSC. I don't use my reader much because I have only gotten one code since ownership (15years) PO440 - Evaporative Emissions.) I only use my reader to get codes but not to erase them unless of course I actually fixed the problem. Look for readers that are ABS capable. PS.... I've gotten too old to do the "paper clip fix" as bending under the dash is tough on my back! lol

I have an Innova 3130 and have not had any problems with it. Granted I have not had to use it but a few times, it has never made any lights come on for my Lexus.
