Default stereo install in 1998 LS

Bouth this car 15 months ago for my youngest son, he turned 16 yesterday so now the car is his. For his birthday we ordered some new audio stuffs, a new double din head unit, sub and amp for the trunk. I know people have installed a million stereos in these cars, we are going to tackle it this weekend, anything that i should look out for, tips to make it easier? We will be bypassing the factory amp.

what you're likely going to find a lack of into is with running the amp power cable from the battery in the engine bay.

use this link to find the hole i used to run my cable (it's for air suspension but it's the same principle for an audio setup, see the first few pics):

also check out the mother thread on audio setup, how to remove the stock head unit, cable connections either direct or with a premade harness, etc:

Is there a pretty easy to get to hot and accessory power behind the radio? I saw where you pulled that power wire through for the amp, probably as good of a spot as any since the whole is already there.

BTW, those front vents are made out of glass.......I read how to take the vent out, read how you had to be super careful.........and still I will be trying to put them back together. They didn't move before, seems very stuck so I never adjusted them.

here is a post that contains the wiring diagrams. you should be able to tap for power and accessory from the main radio harness:

Yeah, it was super easy, we put the entire system in Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Outside of me having to try to fix those central vents it went pretty well, its pretty clean looking and sounds nice.
