1993 LS 400 - I have an installation appointment NEXT WEEK for aftermarket door speakers/amp/sub (MB Quart and JL Audio). Should I, or should I not, also replace my factory headunit of my Pioneer LS 400 headunit? PLEASE RESPOND!

Do you have budget to replace the headunit without skimping?
If you keep the OEM head unit IMO it will look better, but think you'll have to use a line level converter (not 100% sure for your model) to get the signal to your new amp, which sounds OK but isn't optimal.
Thanks for the reply! I am just concerned with the "look" of the single din unit replacing the factory "double din" unit of my 1993 LS 400. Money is not my main concern. I just want the installers in my Lexus once! Thanks, David
Is the head unit in the 93ls400 the same one as the 94 es300?
If so i'd say keep the factory headunit. I've tried 4 different model HU's (all $400 plus units) in my car and was not as satisfied as i was the stock pioneer head unit. Really the only reason i can see going aftermarket is for mp3 playback.

What head units did you use that WEREN'T better than stock? The aftermarket HU's should give you more control over the sound.

Pioneer 9300
Pioneer 7300
Eclipse -can't rember the model
Alpine - again can't remeber the model, it was the one without an internal amp
I did forget to mention that i had 2 Audiocontrol EQT's in the trunk at the time
I'm still running the stock deck and could not be happier. It has line level outputs, integrated cd changer, and a very stealth look.
