A\C Compressor Pulley
Car started squeaking recently, it's the classic high pitched squeak from the serpentine belt and not a grinding\moaning noise that would be the compressor itself failing. Diagnosed it to be the air conditioning, as turning the system on\off would control the noise. Serpentine belt is 1 year old and it passes the water-on-the-belt test telling me it's a pulley and not the belt itself.
The only info I can find on the pulley\bearing is two part numbers:

I'm trying to find what this guy did:
Is there some part # for just the entire bearing\pulley assembly that connects it to the serpentine belt? I don't know if my bearing or the pulley is making the noise and I'd like to replace everything upfront rather than just the metal bearing.

I'm trying to find what this guy did:
I did the pully and bearing change on my 94 SC300, very easy. Go to AutoAone and get/rent the pully holder. There is a 10mm bolt in the middle of the pully,using the holder remove the bolt. Then you will see a C clip remove it and the entire pully bearing assembly will come right out. Get the new pully bearing and revese the install process.
My pully/bearing was making a horrible noise once I turned the AC on. I changed out the pully/bearing assembly and it is all quite again. Took me about an hour to complete the job. My AC was still working though just niosy. Hopes this helps.

I had a high pitched squeaking noise on my 97 a couple years ago & it turned out to be the idler pulley's bearing so before you condemn the AC compressor pulley's bearing, you need to remove the serpentine belt then spin each of the pulley that you can spin by hand & hopefully it's one of those. These pulleys aren't that expensive (~ $30-$40) but if you're short in cash, the bearing(s) can be purchased at some local auto part stores for a few bucks. Just use a socket to punch it out then press a new one in. It's super easy. Now, if it's the idler pulley, there's a metal concave washer that looks like a little dish so when you bolted the pulley back in, it can compress the bearing & binds up so make sure you spin it by hand to make sure it spins freely before you put the serpentine belt back on. As far as I am aware, the idler pulley should be consistent and not cycle on\off when other accessories apply torque to the belt? Cause it's 100% tied to the A\C running, the power steering or alternator adding stress don't induce the noise at all.
But yeah when it comes time to replace; will obviously check to make sure it's the correct one once the Serp belt is off. Idler pulley was my first guess actually - but I discovered the A\C was correlated so that led me to suspecting that.

If the squeaking noise only turn up when you have the AC on/off then most likely it's the compressor pulley's bearing but you never know. When the compressor's clutch engaged or dis-engaged, it could put additional tension on the serpentine belt & causes any of these pulley bearings (idler, AC compressor, power steering, alternator, etc...) to make noise if any of them is/are about to go out. You may be surprised at your finding when you have the serpentine belt off & spin each pulley by hand. Let's us know what you find out.
A 1995 LS I owned a while ago had an issue with its ac pulley. I think the clutch was bad.. this was nine or ten years ago. Since it had cheap refrigerant I just put a used compressor in there. I cheated and got the cheapest junkyard one I could find, in that cars case it was from a UCF10 early model. I changed the whole compressor. The only snag was that the wiring connector was different, but that was an easy fix. The AC worked fine after that for the life of the car. The compressor cost $20 plus shipping if I remember right, so very cheap to fix. The cost of a new pulley and clutch assembly turned me off as that was closer to $100 and non-OEM.
