From what I gather, Megans are the way to go for comfort and reliability. They also drop way more than just a regular spring and strut setup. In terms of value for money, Megans win as well. The price difference between strut/spring combo and Megans is very small (couple hundred bucks as trukn1 stated) and it's the main reason why I opted for Megans myself. I can't give you any concrete evidence/examples why they're good coilovers because I haven't got mine yet, but I'm sure other users will help you out with that Good luck with your decision making and I'll be sure to chime in myself once I have mine installed.

Neither of these prices include install.

LI_celsior has megans on his car and I am sure that he will chime in.
Ahh no worries there, I do all the installs myself. I work in a shop so I get everything at cost as well. Hopefully one of my distributors sells megan products.

I have KW variants on my G35 and they are without a doubt the nicest coils I have ever used, bought or installed.

I almost bought megans when I dropped the G, but decided to go with the baller coils haha. Few of my friends are running them in their cars and love them.

I'm gonna rip apart the rear end this week and see what's going need replacing, there is very little rust underneath the car so hopefully nothing is seized beyond belief, I hate working on **** that doesn't get you anywhere!

Thanks guys, I'm gonna try and track down some Megans and see how things go.

check over in the vendor section on this forum. We have vendors here who sell them.

Also, the packaging will say that the megans are for the 95+ LS(second gen). They will also fit your first gen since they were initially developed for/tested/ and installed(during testing stage) on a first gen. So when you order, do not be intimidated if you only see the Megans for the 95 and up model.

If you can install them yourself I'd suggest swapping the Megans out for the stock setup in winter. I do it myself in about 4 hours on my own in my garage. This way the winter road salt can't mess up the coilovers.

Yea I considered that as well, or just cover the entire coil in tech lube lol I did that when I had my subaru and when I pulled the coils out and cleaned them off they were mint!

Trukn, I thought the UCF20 used a taller strut in the rear and wouldn't fit? IS it because the UCF20 can fit a smaller strut? so it's only backwards compatible?

developed for 89-94= fit on all 89-00.
developed for 95-00= fit only 95-00 properly.

the megans were developed for the 89-94, and if you call them and ask them that's pretty much what they'll tell you.

It doesn't really matter if you cut your springs. People who does cut springs has *****. Like me for example i've been driving my car 1990 ls400 with a 2" drop and its fine no problems. I love the aggressive stance and feel for the car being low. plus turning and drifting has improved even with cheap upgrades like welding differentials. I mean these cars are so damn cheap you can find one on craigslist for under 2K so it doesn't matter they're cheaper than the average hondas you find anywhere. I swear people who are so caught up with the lexus lines from the 90s should just shoot themselves for being too uptight and feel for the ghetto persona. I mean its ironic how the majority of the replied post here has big wheels VIP yakuza wanna-be body-kits etc. CMON I bought my ls400 for under 1K and I get more attention from tuners and blah blah blah. WHY? because i take it to track I actually had more fun with this car than my infiniti g35 and nissan 350z combined. its my daily driver. and its a beast.

In this day, it really doesn't matter. Parts for these barges is limited but with the Megan EZ series, it is pretty easy to get a good drop now. While it still is considered a VIP car, peeps can do as they please. Asking this same question in the 460 and 430 forums would be ghetto and viewed as

you aren't seriously "tracking" your car with cut springs and a welded diff.

the most you're likely to be doing is a few donuts here and there and possibly drifting a bit.

cut springs and (eventually) blown shocks a performance car do not make.

Just goes to show these barges are now widely available for a range of mods. Some likable and some that might get the

Cutting springs is not ***** , its the stupidity and ignorance that the arrogant hide behind to defend there position or decisions from intelligence . Like running into a gun fight with a Popsicle , yah it takes ***** to do that but the question is why , whats the point >?

You get more attention from tuners because even they wonder what the hell did that guy do to that old car . It bounces down the road like a slo mo from baywatch .
Sorry but using no rational to debunk others ideas is just asking for a response .

As they say, there is the proper way and the backyard way. The bouncy cars are pretty obvious.

well its all about taste and FYI cutting stock springs are not that bad (if done right) and a lot of people agree...including Chip Foose the designer/host for overhaulin' cuts springs...drift king Keiichi Tsuchiya admitted cutting springs. many professional racer enthusiast had cut springs. So why do you despise the idea. im tired of all these clowns who tries too hard to fit in, all i hear is blah blah blah...and then complain and nag. and then in the end no one wins. why? because someone out there is better than you...NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO TO KEEP YOUR EGO GOING. Fact is you drive to live...and then die
