I am trying to lower it without going to coilovers. I see that some people here have 2 inch up front lowering springs, however, I cant seem to find these springs, all the ones I find are only 1.8 inch drop. where can I get the 2 inch drop springs?
If you have a 95-00 the Bilstein HD with the lower snap ring setting will give you about a 2" front drop. Given the cost of springs and shocks, it is very close to buying the entry level Megan's though.
Buying entry level megans? do you mean megan coilovers or megan springs? Should I buy new shocks-struts too? I mean the car rides like a cadillac. Also, with the suspension set up that you have, how different is the ride to the stock ride? is there a huge noticeable difference?

kyb excel g shocks and tanabe df210s gave me the 1.8 inch drop and is a 9/10 when compared to stock ride.
Anything stiffer than that and ride quality will likely suffer.
I bought Springs for $150, Shocks for $380, all the oem mounts, insulators and bumpers for about $300.
It ended up costing well over the price of the entry level megan coilovers.
Spend about 600 on some megans then set them at the softest setting so your ride is still comfortable.
And those should easily give you a 2"+ drop
What do you mean " all OEM mounts, insulators and bumpers". I thought u would just need the springs and the shocks? Can I just buy the lowering springs without shocks? Is there any of you that might happen to b selling some used coilovers?
Do they need to be replaced? Not always, but if they are worn and dry rotted, ride quality will deterioate.
Yes you can just buy lowering springs but this will shorten whatever life your old worn shocks have left.

I'm glad I read this thread because I am having the same debate with myself about how to lower my LS. I think I am sold on coilovers. Same or slightly less cost than shocks/springs, adjustable ride and a lower drop? What's not to like. Thanks.
Sorry fellahs, dont know where to post this and figured this is the best place. I have a customer who came into my body shop with a 94 LS 400 with stock air. He wants to swap that out with Megan coils, my question is, are the check lights going to light up on the dash? Anything I need to worry about? Thanks for the assistance in advance.
Had this same conversation recently with a shop I was pricing Megans with. They said the "stability control" light will come on when you remove the air suspension setup. That's just one opinion though...so, not 100% sure.

Not true, at least on the 98, replacing air struts with springs did not result in the stability control light coming on. That system relies on speed sensors in the hubs, not related to struts. I told the mechanic he needs to pull the fuse for the air pump. So far no warning lights.

Good tip. Thanks. So, i guess there is no need to actually remove the pump since removing the fuse will prevent it from cycling?
Go with tanabe. They are easy to find and I am very pleased with mine.
goodyear will probly quote you like $750 because the book says you need to drop the rear axle.
Do it yourself for $100 in tool rentals (that gets refunded) and 6 hours time.
if you get springs without shocks, your shocks lifespan will be shortened.
or you could just go the smart route and spend 600 on a set of megans.
thats what I would do if I ever had to do work on my shocks again,
