Default 98 LS400 Engine Splash Shield Replacement

Last week part of the cover under the car came loose and was scraping on the street so I had it removed, now im looking to replace it but all I can find is the splash shields for the 94-97 models, they dont look to much different, yall think I can use that as a replacement? Or even better do you know where I can find the splash shield for the 98 model? Thanks for the help.

Dealer will be able to verify the par# based on your VIN.
These are the ones from a past thread for the 98's: 51441-50070 or 51441-50030

Default 1998-2000 front engine shield question?

HI, NEED a front engine shield splashguard for 99 LS400, and finding a ton of them for 1990 thru 1997. I can find zero of them for 98-2000. Anyone know if there is a difference? Winter is coming up here in NH and need to keep that salt and slush off my 99. If you can tell me part num, I’d appreciate it. The 1990-97 parts looks right, but I’m not going to chance it.

I'm in Phoenix where we see about 14 days of precipitation per year, and none of those days are frozen or have any salt. I drive my old 4Runner on the days that there is water falling from the sky anyways, and keep the LS tucked nicely in the garage.

What I'm getting at is I have had that engine cover removed and sitting in my garage for a few years now. I will inspect the cover for a part number tonight. I will also take a few pictures of it for comparison to the 90-97 items too, unless someone here can confirm if they are the same (or different) before I can do all of that this evening.

Check here for the P/N: https://www.lexussouthatlantaparts.com/
Enter your model year, etc.
Then look under the "Suspension & Steering" category; find the "Suspension Cross Member and Under Cover" diagram and you should be able to get the part number.

I think you have the wrong cover, he's referring to the splash shield underneath the car, not the cover on top.

I knew what he was talking about, and either way both of those items are stored nicely in my garage. Didn't go out there last night to look, but now I'm curious to compare to the numbers listed above. I'll report back eventually... lol

Oh ok. Mine was an AZ car too but my bottom splashshield has about 50% remaining on it, the rest has crumbled and fragmented away over the years and almost 300k. I've got it ziptied in some spots which seems to work for now.

The correct part number for a 98-00 is 51441-50070. The other one is for a 95-97.

So apparently there are slight differences in parts from 90-94, 95-97, and 98-00.

In my case, for my '91, the 95-97 ones were available from RockAuto for super cheap (around $50), and the correct 90-94 ones would have cost 4x that, as I recall. So I bought a 95-97 one and made some adjustments to make it fit. I also did some things to make it last longer, in case this car is still running in 2040 (just hit 200k miles last week, running great). I took photos of the new and old covers laid on top of one another so you can see just how different they are.

Highly recommended for the 90-94 ones if pricing is similar to what I found. And I will guess that similar customization would work to span the jump from 97 to 98. So of course, if prices/availability are the same for all 3 types, get the right one. But if there's a big difference like I found, a slightly different one can probably be made to work well enough.

A few posts on the topic, with pics, start at this one:

Also, +1 on the zip ties. Drill a small hole through the plastic to feed the zip tie through, tie it to something above, and it will buy you as much time as you want.

Were you able to do it without jacking up the car?
