Default 1998 lexus LS400 front brake pad replacement

I am about to install a set of front brake pads on my 98 LS. I got OEM toyota pads from dealer. Ive used the search feature but cant seem to locate anything specific to the 98-2000 LS. Was really hoping i could locate a video that someone has made or seen that i could follow. I checked the lexls site but that is all specific to the 90-94 models.

thanks

It very easy, just did mine over the weekend.
remove wheels
remove retaining pins on slider pin
remove slider pins
remove metal clip
remove pads
open master cylinder and push brake piston back in
drop in new pads
put back slider pins and safety pins
install metal clip
remember to close and tighten master cylinder cap
done

I go a bit nuts on the lube. i lube everything but the braking surface of the pads.

I sand down the pins a bit so they are smooth and lube those a bit, sand/brush down the contact points of where the pad sits on the caliper and lube em making sure no overflow touches the rotors. and a ton of brake caliper lube on the shim part of the pads themselves.

pushing the brake caliper pistons back in are the challenge here, rest is straight forward.
be sure to open the master cylinder cap as the fluid will be going back in as you push.
be careful not to gouge the rubber boots or mar the brake rotors with the tool you use to push.

very similar steps:

don't forget about the pad wear sensor on the Passenger front and rear. You'll have to undo that from the pad backing plate and transfer it to the new pads.

This is incorrect for the front of the 2nd gen LS, '95+ cars have fixed 4 piston opposing calipers which do not have slider pins, and are trickier to push the pistons back in.

The rear brakes are the same design across all LS400s, so LexLS' tutorial will work fine: http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/brake/rbpad.html

The front brakes on '95+ cars are totally different, and will work essentially like Timmy's STi video.
Here's a pictorial for UCF20 front brakes: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...fix-ucf20.html

do i need to replace the pad wear sensor ? I dont have that alert on that shows on the information panel

i was under the assumption that the wear sensor only had to be replaced if that light was triggered on the dash

The wear sensor gets destroyed when the pads become too thin. When this happens the light on the dash comes on. If the sensor is still intact it can be re used.
