1997 Ls400 has got some got dang issues...
I posted in the Mega ECU thread recently about how im having various issues such as stalling out while drive and being possibly fuel pump related. I took it in last friday to my buddies shop and it got fixed with a replacement fuel pump relay i think and it ran well until it stalled out at my local Harris Teeter. My buddy said he ran the codes and none came up. The car is at my house now and my master tech neighbor has looked at it a few times. Both times he has not been able to get a reading on either of his diagnostic tablets. Next step he said was to try to connect the tablet to the diagnostic port under the hood and we're gonna try that tomorrow. So what ive read im thinking i gotta get the ECU fixed. I also read that there is a fuel pump ECU that could possibly be an issue. Please help Lexus gurus this car is depressing me

Funny how master techs are only that when the scan tool finds something.
How come they don't drive it with scan tool connected, and see what falls out to shut it down.
But just for fun, I think I'd replace the crank position sensor. Or at least use the scan tool scope function and keep a close eye on it. And watch the fuel trims too. And yeah check the ecu too.

You should know that the fuel pump relay works only when the engine needs some extra gas bypassing the fuel pump resistor. Without it, the engine should run. What your buddies shop did was strange to me.
You were walking the detour. What you should do first is to check the ECU as RA40 was suggested before you ask unskilled shop to fix. You should also know that 19-20 years is old enough for those QAS capacitors to fail.

Not sure why you received that impression. According to our notes from your call, our salesperson has been going back and forth with you the past few days trying to obtain a complete picture of the problem before coming to a conclusion about what we can or cannot do.
