Default loose window pins.. problem.

okay so I got a weird one that ive never seen discussed here before. as everyone knows our windows are unique being the way they are with those little pins that hold them in place that run up and down the track. car is a 95 early UCF20

anyway a few weeks ago I had a car full of people and when they closed the doors I heard "clinks" which I have never heard before. since then the clinks have gotten louder when the doors are closed and now the windows fall about a quarter of an inch if partially opened every time I close a door, and they are starting to rattle. the windows still all work perfect and seal tight when they roll up, but the pins that hold the windows in place are coming loose. guess that's what these cars do when they get up into almost classic status.

has anyone ever experienced this before? if so, how do I tighten them back down without scratching or breaking the glass? do I have to worry about them falling out and taking a window with them? there really isn't a way I can even see to be able to tighten them or get to them. ive seen hundreds of Ls400s over the years but never seen this problem before. I know as cars age they get known unique weird problems. is this going to be another classic symptom like the famous blacked out climate control display, PS fluid leaks, hood struts that fail and sticky needles in the cluster? also, im a "drive with the windows down constantly" guy. ac still blows cold but I never really use it unless its raining because the compressor is rattling and I don't know how much time is left on it.

so, loose window pins.. help needed!!

You have to take the cover off the door and tighten up the 2 bolts the actually hold the glass on the rail that moves the glass up and down. The "pins" that you are referring to just act as guides to keep the window in place while it moves.

Might have to remove the window for access? What do the guys at your dealership say? I thought you worked at one?

yes, just the panel and peel back the plastic. Roll the window down to bring the rail into view.
