who did the timing belt job? take it back to them, which should be under warranty if they are a reputable shop.

possible a loose connection in the ignition system or worse. check all plug wires are tight against the rotor caps, and all connections are tight and properly positioned.

Check the battery and connections as well. Sometime back I came to a hard stop and the engine stopped. I was WTH! Started right up and ran without issue then on but it bugged me. Turned out that under the positive connector was a heavy coating of corrosion. There was tiny bit of clear post to contact. Even though the battery is bolted down, hard forces when cornering or stopping can cause a slight shift. If the connection is iffy, that can break electrical contact for that moment causing the car to shut off.

Maybe a connector was not connected tight and fell apart.

I had a similar problem with my '92. It got so bad, if you hit a bump in the road just right, it would cut off. It would restart but sometimes took minutes of trying. I found the trouble was with my main (left of column under dash) fusebox. I could wiggle the large harness going into that fusebox and hear relays clicking underhood. I replaced the entire fusebox but did find loose fuses in the old box caused the trouble. Problem is now gone.
