Default car broke down. what do yall think?

alright so i went out to eat tonight and when i got in the sc400 to leave i started it and it hesitated and the belt made a sound so i turned it off to look and see what was wrong and it wouldnt crank back afterwards . the car wont even turn over and when you try to crank it the interior lights dim out and the battery smokes for a second. im not really sure what it is. i was thinking it could be the alternator but im not sure. what do you guys think it is?

smoke will come off the postive terminal on the battery and as i said in the first post the motor will not turn over. you turn the key and you can hear the electornics turn on and then when you attempt to crank the car it makes one click and then stops

well we got it towed to the shop where we get most of the work done. i want to see what they think it is b4 i tell them to fix it. the only thing that really came to my mind was the alternator. i know watching the car go up on the tow truck was a bad site. the front bumper almost scraped the ground

wiring problem, my rx7 did the same exact thing. Shake the wiring around the battery and you should have everything working again, need to find where you have a problem though. This is just what worked for me.

1..maybe one of your pulleys seized up.. ... thats what caused the noise... .. because a pulley seized up.. it wont turn over.. since it wont turn.. the starter is trying to get more power to it.. which causes the battery to smoke.. .. just a thought.. haha

Ah, sorry, when my rx7 messed up it would make 1 click after i turned the key to start it and everything would be shut off. Sounded like the same thing. Might still be a wiring problem somewhere.
