2000 LS, tilt steering not working
I know that the 98+ models use the ls430 style motors so it is not the loose plastic gear.
However, a while ago the tilt stopped working but the telescoping still came out automatically when I put the key in. then it all stopped, but i can manuall adjust the telescoping.
i head a little squeek when i press the down position, so I know the motor works for the tilt.
I cant tell from the diagrams what the motor actually activates. Anyone have an idea with the 98-00 tilt stuff?
Looks like the motor goe sinto the "adjusting nut" Pn 45833. Could mine be stripped? I cant have the car down too long, which is why I am asking for help to see if someone had this same situation. well see exactly what is up once it is torn down, but then gotta wait for lexus shipping.

Thanks for commenting about the similarities of the 430 steering. The 430 section has a variety of tilt, telescoping threads. In those cases, the motor is the failing item and replaced. There is this tilt motor replacement thread:

Thank you both. Following the telescope thread, i foudn a link to some pics of the tilt motor. Crap.. gotta take apart the whole damn deal basically! I suspect once i get the steering wheel off it will be much easier to work with, as I only had the lower cover off once to confirm I dindt have the old style gear.
This picture shows the motor shaft entering the bushing housing
I could be wrong, and it could be the motor, but i kind of feel it might be the bushing inside that big u joint assembly there that is cracked and the motor spins the shaft but nothing happens. (just hear that one squeek) I will report back once that is taken care of.
First, get it working in manual mode. Then maybe it will work in auto mode, if not then well take care of that issue later.
